Hi everybody! Hope you are all well :)

I'm thinking about handing my notice in at work, and going to stay with my friend in Australia. I have not made any final decisions but I'm either going to be visiting for a month or so, or I will be staying out there for a while.

I was just wondering, does anybody have any useful info or advice with taking humira in Australia? Would I have to take a large quantity with me, or would they provide it there for me, if they did provide it there would it cost me (as I currently get it free) and how much would it cost me? Just any help would be much appreciated! Humira has been one of the best things for me so I could just do with some advice please

Thanks everyone xxx

From what is stated below you are only eligible for the amount on a script and that is it. From what I can ascertain one script is 2 units. This amount would be provided under the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) which is not free. A PBS script at present is $36.90.

The full cost of Humira for 2 units is $1774.70. :eek2:

Reciprocal Health Care Agreement:

Where an eligible patient is a visitor from a country with which Australia has entered into a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement, the supply will be limited to the original prescription only. Repeat prescriptions for these patients are not permitted.

This is general information about entitlements of reciprocal health agreements:

We have not used Humira at our end and have no experience with its use whilst travelling to countries with a reciprocal health agreement. Hopefully someone will be along with better info than me!
