So after developing Crohn's Disease in March 13 I did very well until October 13...
My symptoms that started are:
Extreme Fatigue
Brain Fog
Muscle Soreness
Hair Loss
Depression
Cold Hands and Feet

I had several tests done and the only thing that came up were Anemia and Hypothyroid. I was pleased to hear that I could easily fix those problems and feel normal.

Well It has been 4 months of having normal thyroid levels and not being anemic and I still feel the same.

For what its worth, My Crohn's isn't that bad. I was only on Sulfasalazine and Medical Cannabis. I have come of both and doing pretty good on a SCD.

Any ideas on what to do?

Have they tested your vitamin B12 level? B12 deficiency is VERY common in people with Crohn's disease and can account for many of those symptoms.

How about vitamin D and magnesium? Same as above.

David,

My B12 and Folate was high, I think that may be due to methylation problems?

Vitamin D was Normal, but in the lower third of the range.

Haven't had magnesium tested, do you think that is critical?

Aside from anemia and thyroid problems which are now in check. The common causes are B12 or vit D deficiency. It could be something else but those are the usual suspects.

Unfortunately with chronic illness and especially autoimmune disease you can be fatigued simply because the body is using its power to fight hard and it's depleting your energy.

I have all 4 of those stabilized now. Fatigue hasn't improved.

So it may very well just be a symptom of your illness and not related to a deficiency necessarily.

So I should be expecting to feel like this forever? Its been 4 straight months of me not being able to get out of my bed for more than 4 hours per day

Have you had your hormonal levels checked?

I haven't come across anyone else who has experienced the same as me, but my testosterone levels abruptly plummeted in January 2009 to 124 ng/dl when they were 852 ng/dl in August 2008 (when my severe fatigue began to surface). Because of my muscular physique I was accused of taking anabolic steroids that suppressed natural production. After 2 years, 5 endocrinologists (who all loved to accuse of me of anabolic steroid abuse) and a T level of 119 ng/dl I finally talked my GP into putting me on testosterone replacement therapy. Thanks to him I have my life back.

I'm always tired. Every 6 months I have complete blood work done and everything is fine. My doctor has chalked it up to the disease and my meds combined. It sucks because I'm 31 with less energy than most 50-90 year olds...lol!

How is your sleep? I had horrible fatigue for years (I was 20 years old and felt like an 80 yo) it is just now starting to go away. I've been sleeping much better this year after getting off immunosuppressants and starting ldn, and taking a better b12 supplement (transdermal patch).
