Extending severe flareup pain?

I'm fairly concerned, but I'll have to survive another 4 hours until I have an appointment at the doctor's office with one of my family doctor's. I would go to the hospital now, but I need the allergy shots so I can't skip on the office appointment. I'm also seeing the doctor who told me that she would try putting me on some actual Crohn's medication, even though I have no real diagnosis...

Maybe it was because I ate a small amount of beef (very small) while already having a flareup, but this is by far the worst flare I've ever felt in the last 3 1/2 years of this mystery IBD! :voodoo:

As you all know, i typically only have the burning/stabbing feeling in the very low right side. However, starting this morning, the pain has extended upwards and is now taking over half of my stomach along the right side. It's not a different type of pain - it's the same burning/raw/stabbing feeling, but i have NEVER had it extend that far up before.

What do you think could be causing something like this? I know people here talk about obstructions or fissures or strictures, but how do you know what they are?

CT scans and colonoscopy will show the cause (hopefully).

I'm waiting to get a CT scan and a gastroscopy (and then a colonoscopy, if I can convince my GI), but for the gastroscopy I have to wait more than a year and I'm positive the CT scan will not take place until 2010 also :(

There may be hope for me just yet...

turned out I have both a kidney infection AND the major flareup. So with my medication allergies of antibiotics, she gave me the typical things for flares - one week supply of Cipro (1000 mg/day) and Flagyl (1500 mg/day).

If I am still in pain after I finish this week of meds she will try put me on some steroid-based meds, maybe even something like Prednisone. I know it has bad side effects, but I'm willing to take that risk if I need to. She gave me some other med to help with the vomitting (or so she hopes) and said she'll send a letter to that different specialist in Regina (not the jerk I always get) stating a second opinion so I can see the new guy like my gynocologist said. The doc said "there is definitely something seriously wrong with your stomach" so she may try get me in for a colonoscopy or that endoscopy sooner than a year from now. And she said when she writes the letter, so will state my symptoms in detail and say that we are not looking to have Celiac retested, we want to know what the IBD is.

She's also sending me a referral to the dietician in Canora. She was in shock and says that she may not know a lot about Celiac Disease, but she does know that it is not a good thing to be allergic to what is gluten-free.

Geez, sometimes I don't know if I'd survive up there, things seem to have been in limbo for years on what beyond Celiac you have...

Since January 28, 2006, Benson...I keep getting worse, i've only had the vomitting issue for the last month. And it's always during/immediately after I eat, usually because of an instant flare. In the past week and a bit I've also woke up during the night because I start to throw up in my sleep. Thankfully it's like an instant reflex that I sit up and force it to stay in me. That is why I'm awake right now, even - that lump in my throat that's trying it's hardest to come out :(

i have tried calling the government representative of this health region, who is supposed to help give you some serious advice about what could be done to improve a situation. I left a voicemail since there was no answer, but nobody called me back! I guess I will have to try again...

That's total BS Lisa. Of course they're working on gov't healthcare down here and there is an ad talking about "canadian style" healthcare where people have to wait for ever .. is that why? Or lack of docs? Maybe one of us can just fly up there and do it ourselves? We'll just get you nice and drunk first =)

it's a lack of doctors and a lack of available equipment. Even something as urgent as potential cancer isn't dealed with right away - even they have to wait for months.
Getting me drunk before you do some scope on me might be a good idea, it would sure beat having them done wide awake...
