hi all

just looking for help/ advice really just to see if anyone has had these symptoms with there crohns. Basically i am 25 years old diagnosed at 22 been on coilfoam enemas, pentasa granuals, azathioprine none of these meds helped me at all. So i had been put on prednisolone 4 times in one year because of flares recently i have just finished a round of pred and at the same time taking 6mp but ever since stopping prednisolone i have suffered really extreme fatigue i am sleepin through out the day which is unlike me everytime i open my bowels there is always blood which panics me as i tend to think about to much which then makes me worry. Just want to see how many people suffer these horrible symptoms and if anyone has any advice please?

Previous Meds: coilfoam enemas, pentasa granuals, azathioprine prednisolone

Currently Taking: 6MP

In all honesty I'd go the the Emergency Room/hospital. Sounds like you're bleeding a lot and that can make you very tired. Lack or nutrients can make you tired and battling an uncontrolled disease can make you tired. Unknown which it is but my guess is all the above. Once you're in the hospital they should run some blood work and other tests to see what's causing the bleeding and will give you fluids through an IV and also see if you need a transfusion.

Sounds to me like your GI specialist isn't taking you very seriously and you need to be seen right away and find another GI. Mine would never take me off Prednisone and leave me bleeding like that.

Keep us posted when you get a chance. Take care of yourself.

You will find fatigue a pretty common symptom - blood loss can certainly contribute. Are you short of breath as well, poor stamina when exercising (if you are able)? For me, I think I may be in remission now, and the fatigue is still there. I think it has literally been decades since I woke up feeling rested. In any case, it probably should be followed up a little more thoroughly.

i do find myself short of breath and unfit. before i was diagnosed with crohns i used to do kickboxing for 4 years and i had to give it up because of feelings of light headed shortness of breath and just couldnt keep up with everyone else. Thanks for the advice everyone :)

I definetly agree with Crabby. YOu need to get your blood tested asap. Obviously the meds you are on are not helping and if there was no sign of your flare being under control you should not of been taken off of the prednisone. Has your doctor talked to you about Humira or Remicade? I was on Humira for about a month and a half after a very serious flare that left me in the hospital for 4 weeks and I went into remission. I'm not saying that this is the only answer because everybody's bodies respond differently to all the different meds, but it is worth having a discussion about. I hope you get relief soon!

Hey Crohnies

Thank you everyone for your advice and messages. Just an update, I visited my GP today and told her how i was feeling, she felt my tummy and said it was tender. I told her about my GI arranging a colonoscopy for the near future. i said i have took prednisolone before and my GI consultant didnt want me on them anymore because have been on them to many times. With that my GP perscribed me prednislone she said take this with 6MP and she also arranged for blood test to be done. When i see my GI about 2weeks back she done bloods then to see the drug level of 6MP to see if its working and and i am due to see her again in august fro the results and if all is ok she is going to put me on Humira.

Your blood loss and lack of nutrition is probably causing fatigue but keep in mind many of us suffer fatigue that is just part of the disease.
