I've had this symptom since i was a child. It was alot worse back then as it was constant.

Now, it's after every bowel movement i have. Sometimes it's accompanied by a burning sensation which makes it hard for me to sit for a few minutes. I sometimes have to spend minutes itching which is very irritating and as of now whilst i'm typing this, it's starting to itch real bad. The itching is all in one location, right at the bottom of the anus. I also feel a small lump, i've always felt a small lump there since a child. I do not take any medication and i've had a colonoscopy done before which showed up clean.

My doctor suspects i may be diabetic but i doubt that would have anything to do with this itching. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

I too get really bad itching down there. I understand how it can drive you absolutely mad! I've found that Calmoseptine ointment helps A TON. Not only with the itching, but with burning and tenderness as well. This stuff is seriously a gift from the anal discomfort gods.

I usually use it anywhere from 1-4 times a day depending on how bad the itching or burning is. Usually after each BM. Just wash up and clean the area down there and then apply the ointment and you're good to go. I usually feel relief within seconds of applying it.

I know over here in the US it can be purchased at Walgreens, but I'm not sure about the UK. I know it can be ordered online too though.

@Louiss!, do you know what causes the itching and burning? i forgot to mention that i also get anal leekage as well, not sure if they are related in any way.

If i can get my hands on that i'll definitely give it a try, thank you.

We don't have calmoseptine over here :(

The itching and burning is probably irritation from something in your poo- if you're having diarrhoea it could be acidic, or have bile salts in. Leakage means your skin is in contact for longer. You could try putting Vaseline round your anus before you go to the toilet, that will keep most of the poo off your skin, and makes clean up easier so less wiping and irritation from that.

I also use Asda Little Angels nappy rash cream after going to the toilet if I'm a bit sore. It has zinc in which forms a protective barrier and stops leakage or sweat irritating the skin.

@Rebecca85, i indeed do have diarrhoea. I've had it for years. I had a feeling that was causing it but i don't know what's causing the diarrhoea, i've tried changing my diet and stuff :(. My doctor isn't very useful with this.
