I've been on remicade since August of 2012. Over the last few months my symptoms have almost disappeared! I can eat almost anything with no problem. However, over the last few weeks I've felt really tired and sluggish. Then I started having loose bms. I went back to see my doctor and she did a lot of blood work trying to see what's going on. I upped my VSL #3 probiotic from two pills to 6. However, still no change in fixing the loose bms.
I know I'm probably overreacting but I really worry that I'm failing remicade.

C. barbie,

Hi, and I dont blame you for questioning your symptoms. I know with our daughter, it wasnt until the 6th dose that we saw she was really responding. We also had to add an antibiotic, Asacol (she has been on from the beginning) and then a cortifoam. It takes a long time for Remicade to get into the system and really work. Plus we removed lactose from her diet which we believe helped her too.

She never had diarrhea (which is rare), but continued to bleed, had a huge flare up, even after the 5th dose.
thiinking of you and hope you are able to go into remission soon.

If the medicine has worked for you, there still may need to be a bit of tweaking done, or it could just be a brief flare up. I've had a few instances where I may go 1-3 weeks of a light to moderate flare up and just when I'm about to call the doctor things even out.

Not too sure about the reduced energy levels. But for the loose BMs, have you had any surgeries on your intestines? If so, I would recommend talking to your doctor about a bile acid sequestrant.

Good luck with this, I hope things work out for you.

My mom had a similar situation. Our super doc had a stool test performed from Genova Diagnostics.

Turns out she just had some pathogens that were causing the loose BMs. A short round of antibiotics cured the issue.

My mom and I both take LDA Immunotherapy and have had amazing results. You can see the LDA Immunotherapy thread on the forum below...it includes links to an LDA doctor near you:
