Over the past two weeks I've been experiencing some minor fatigue. Its weird too, because I can sleep ten hours, get up, then be tired still. I have a hard time getting out of bed, as well. I'll also mention that tonight has been the worst. I work third shift, which is 11-7AM, and I slept from about 7:30 yesterday morning until 5:00PM. By the time I got to work and around 2, I was ready for a nap! But it was odd, because mentally I'm not tired, but its almost as if my legs are weak and I just want to sleep. Is this common in IBD? I probably need to start taking my multi-vitamin again. Thanks.

Have you recently been in a flare? This can most likely bring fatigue. Also, if you happen to have some sort of inflammation. I hope you can get this figured out. Sending hugs your way.

Strangely enough, I've had something go on. I don't know what it is because I'm still undiagnosed, but I have been having minor pains in my lower right quandrant and sometimes across my transverse colon, but nothing alarming. If it is a flare, what can I do to help? And I heard something say that sometimes pain in this area can be the walls thickening and causing a narrowing which makes it harder for digested food to pass. And on these days I hadn't gone to the bathroom as much, so maybe it was compacted? Idk. In any case, I don't have pain now, but I am still fatigued.

The fatigue is very frequent. You took your temperature? A light increase can explain it!
Sorry for my expression, I am French

Fatigue has always been a issue with my Crohn's sometimes worse than others if u can handle it drink coffee and exercise helps a ton!!!! And go to the dr and get on some meds to fight the inflamation!!

I can sleep all day and still not feel rejuvenated either. I am low on some vitamins but nothing that would cause severe fatigue. Unfortunately it can be a manifestation of the illness since your body is in battle and using its resources.

I definitely recommend you take your multi and have your bloods tested for any deficiencies that could be causing fatigue.

Hi all.
I have only just joined the forum, and I joined to ask the same question, and then saw this post straight away. Within the last week I have been suffering with terrible fatigue, I have had pain, and believe I am having a flare. However the fatigue is worse than its ever been. I just want to sleep constantly, and I am struggling to get things done. Luckily I am on annual leave at the moment, so at least I am not at work.
I was diagnosed a year ago with Crohns, however I think I have had it for ten years+.
I have had part of my small intestine removed, I currently have a seton drain in place, I had many many perianal absceses. And to add to everything I have esophagusitis grade 2. Which makes eating very painful.
I receive Infliximab every 8 weeks, and also take pentasa, Azathioprine, Omeprazole, and some others every day.
So as per the original post, is there anything else I can do to ease the fatigue?
And hello to everyone here.

I also fight with fatigue. But I recently found out due to lab tests that my iron and potassium was very low. I am now on ferrous sulfate, b12 and drinking several Ensure a day. I am also on 20mg of Prednisone for the next three weeks. I am not sure which one is helping fight the fatigue or if it is a combination, but I am feeling a little better. And I seem to have more energy.

Hope this helps for future references.

Definitely prednisone will give you that "energy". I am weaning from Pred and have noticed the fatigue returning. I take b-complex sometimes and really notice the "boost" in energy. But I wonder if it's upsetting my stomach or just the Crohn's symptoms returning. So I'm not taking it much while I get off this prednisone.

Have you had your b12 checked? What about your iron? I agree inflammation can be a fatigue cause for sure. They use to think you had to have had a resection to be b12 deficient FINALLY they have figured out scar tissue and even inflammation can hinder b12 absorption. So best to get it checked.

Hope you r doing better!

All that I have found so far to help with my fatigue is to keep a constant supply of coffee on hand but this is terrible for your guts so I'm in the same boat I'm thanking about going to walmart tonight and getting some dissolvable b12 supplements to try so I can kick the joe!!! Or maybe even a caffeine pill instead of coffee cause it's the acidy that's bad for us not the caffeine? I don't know well see
