After an emergency surgery, I still have this fear from dying from Crohn's or it's treatments. Mine is severe, never been in remission without strong treatments, and treatments will of course lose their efficiency with time. Dying from Crohn's or treatments is not unheard of, how do you cope?

I don't let crohns define me. To a lot people I'm just that kid with crohns who is always in and out of the hospital, but in my head I'm just a normal kid who is going though some stuff. Iv never been in remission but I am faithful that one day I will be.

The risk of dying from IBD or IBD related complications is very low. This isn't a high death disease but rather a troublesome and hard one. Even the medicines have risks but again generally are safe hence there approval by governing agencies.

Tired, crohns is chronic nuisance of a thing(could use something stronger)I hope you live to a ripe old age, crohns won,t shorten your life odds are new treatments will come on stream and few years or months from now we,ll all look back and just think it was rotten period in our lives.good luck

I remember my doctor telling me that most chronic illness will not kill you. They will just make your life miserable and sometimes you will wish you were dead ( Nice thing to tell a patient huh?). I guess we can only hope that one day there IS a cure for this disease and other diseases out there that rob people of their lives..
