So, I'm not having a cooperative tummy today. It's cramping on and off and it sucks! It started right after lunch. I ate a Stouffer's macaroni and cheese dinner (terrible for you, I know. I just never know what to do for lunch) and the rumbles started. Followed by gassy type pains for the next couple hours. And then after eating our festive sheperd's pie (which I had a feeling would be a mistake) I'm just feeling plain awful. I sat in a hot tub for about 30 minutes and it hasn't really helped. I'm thinking it's going to be a Tylenol kind of night.

I think I jinxed myself. I was just telling my PCP today how I've been feeling really good and haven't had any stomach pains in a couple weeks. Wah. :ybatty:

I'm going to curl up in a ball now.

That sucks! Mmmmm shepherd's pie. You are brave. I have a hard time trying to figure out what to eat for lunch when I am at work. I don't eat great all the time and my tummy always reminds me of it.

Aw Marisa

I feel your pain!
my mistake was meatballs and tagliatelle and trifle! My pains are gone now after a good BM
get well soon hunny and try and rest, and maybe a fart, or two?

The stomach pains have stopped this morning thank goodness. Last time I had bad stomach pains they were gone by morning and then I felt fine after a BM. I think it's the same case this time. Just have to go through a night of pain and tossing and turning to get there. I really am puzzled. I modified my sheperd's pie with things I thought would be safe. Ground turkey, green beans, carrots, and mashed potatoes. The ingredients were minimal too. Some worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, onion powder, and salt and pepper. Not sure what went wrong... It's annoying when I can't pinpoint the culprit so I know to avoid it next time. :p

Glad you're better today!

I hear you!!!! My symptoms seem to be totally unrelated to what I eat - I can eat the exact same things two days in a row and one day I'm fine and the next I'm bloated like a ballon and can't fit into my jeans!

Except for veggies - I haven't eaten a vegetable in months because the bloating afterward is so painful. (I drink some V-8 juice each day as a nod to the fact that a balanced diet should contain some vegetable matter!) Do veggies typically bother you?

Not really? I've been minimizing the veggies I eat because when I came out of the hospital I had a stricture in my ileum. They weren't able to get to my ileum on the colonoscopy I just had, so I have no idea if it's still there or what. Because of that I've basically been avoiding most veggies. I do well with green beans, carrots, and lettuce so far. I tried broccoli for the first time last week and was fine, but I had a larger portion the night before yesterday (we tried to eat it all so it didn't go bad) and I'm thinking maybe that might have been the reason I felt awful yesterday. Perhaps a delayed reaction to too much broccoli? LOL I haven't really eaten any other kinds of veggies to know. Potatoes are fine (that's a starch really though).

Macaroni and cheese is killer on my tummy. I generally avoid pasta.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling crummy.

Yeah, well I've had both macaroni and cheese and cheese by itself and both are fine. But I hadn't had this specific type of macaroni in a while. I do well on pasta for the most part it seems.

Is it possible to have a delayed reaction to too many veggies the night before yesterday? I had a heaping load of broccoli I probably shouldn't have ha, haha.

Marisa - Are you feeling better now? I hope so! I would hate to think you have to give up Shepherd's Pie!

Do you eat a lot of ground turkey? I found, when I was eating meat, that it always gave me gas. Dark meat poultry in general was rough for me.

Hope you're doing much better now! - Amy

Yeah, I'm feeling better now. :) The worst was just that night thankfully. Ground turkey is probably the most frequently eaten meat in our house. We use it instead of ground beef. But, we've been trying to incorporate more chicken and fish. I haven't noticed any extra gassiness. It also wasn't the first time I'd eaten turkey since being diagnosed. I really need to start a food journal!

Thanks for checking in on me, Ames :)

Turkey did me in at Christmas and until I am in full remission (has never happened yet) no more Turkey, very gassy those birds lol.
