Hi everyone

I've been on methotrexate for 7 months now, but i'm still getting the same amount of pain around the area where my inflammation is (terminal ileum). The pain mainly kicks in an hour after eating. It can be really sore sometimes and I experience sharp pains. It's as if I can feel the food trying to move through the inflamed part. I also keep getting that bloated after eating I look pregnant. The weird thing is my blood tests are showing the inflammation has gone down. If that's the case I don't get why I'm still having all the pain? Could it just be to do with diet? I don't have the best diet if I'm honest, but I really struggle to find foods that my body agrees with.

I'm having an MRI of my small bowel in a few weeks to see what's going on, I'm just hoping the inflammation has actually gone and hasn't got worse..

It could be that even though the inflammation has gone down there is narrowing occurring due to the inflammation or from scar tissue from past inflammation.

I hope you find answers and relief soon.

It could be diet. It could be an IBS overlay on top of your IBD. It could be an infection of some kind.

This is a good example of why docs often want to scope and biopsy patients to get a look assessment of the degree of mucosal healing as a measure of the true state of the IBD rather than just relying on symptoms - because the symptoms and the degree of ulceration and inflammation often are not aligned.
