Hi,

I woke up last Sunday with a fever of 38c. Went to see a GP that afternoon, and he sent me to the hospital. I had blood samples taken, urine and did a chest x-ray. All results were normal and they sent me home.
During the last couple of days my stomach started hurting too (which made me loose my appetite entirely), but that was because my medication had run out.
Since Monday (specially during the night) my temperature would reach 39.5c. Then, last night, I had a very low temperature, ranging from 32.1c to 35c. My temperature right now is 35.7. I went to the GP again this morning, he just prescribed me more stomach tablets and took me more blood samples.

Should I get worried (even more than what I am currently) with this weird temperature behaviour?

I was told by my son's nurse that high fevers (over 103 F) are usually a result of a virus or infection. Low fevers that appear in the evening are more indicative of the beginning of a flare or inflammation.

It sounds like they checked for pneumonia with the chest X-ray and looked at a possible flare with the blood samples taken. Some people can be in a significant flare and have normal blood tests. My son's GI does a Fecal cal test and measures the inflammation in his stool as well because that is a better indicator for him. That being said there are a lot of strange viruses going around right now. I would think if you had an infection because of a flare your white blood cell count would be elevated.

My thoughts would be that you have a virus, but it sounds like your Dr. is taking the right steps. If it makes you feel better, my son has had many weird episodes like this that seem to disappear as quickly as they come. I hope you get some answers soon and are feeling better too.

I would worry more than you are. For one it's unproductive and those numbers aren't a crazy high fever. It is mildly concerning but blood tests should hopefully show some explanation. Hope it goes away soon.

Thank you for the replies. I had low temperature during the day, around 34c, and currently I have 38.3.
I got a phone call this evening from my health centre, saying that my GP wants to discuss my latest blood samples with me tomorrow at 9, as my inflammation markers seem to have gone quite high.
Nervous, and not knowing what to expect...
