So I had my first appointment with the consultant yesterday. I thought I was seeing a gastro consultant, turned out to be the surgical consultant. My faecal calprotectin was normal. However the doctor said that although the tests aren't revealing much it could just be that I had the tests done on a "good" day and my symptoms do suggest IBD so they can't rule that out yet. I've to go for an MRI scan and if that shows nothing abnormal I will get an appointment to see the gastro doctor.
I would have thought that they would have wanted a repeat faecal calprotectin done when my symptoms are bad but they just want another sample for culture and sensitivity even though I've already had one come back negative.
The doctor seems to think it's IBD but won't put me on medication until they can get a definitive diagnosis.
