first forum. Anyone on apriso?

Hello. This is my first forum. I was diagnosed
With colitis when I was in the 7th grade.
I am now 21 and just last year I was put on
Apriso and it's been about a year on that med and it's been helping
So much. I don't have as much pain anymore. And I haven't seen blood
In about a year but it does have side effects. I thought I was the only one
Who had colitis! It's comforting knowing I'm not the only one!

I'm not sure what else to write but I'd love to talk to anyone about it!:)

Hi! I am so glad you are doing well on Apriso. I am on Asacol and Remicade and I'm also doing well. Being in remission, it seems to me, is not altogether the way I used to be. But, like you, no blood and a lot less pain! I'll settle for that!

I'm Jessica, 34, diagnosed with UC 2 months ago, but knowing UC for 3 years now. I'm new to the forum, as well. Glad you joined. Stay healthy!

hey Jessica! I'm glad your doing well too! I totally
Understand what you mean about being in remission!
no pain, no blood, I will definetly take that anyday!
I hope that continues for you as well!:) thanks for commenting:)
it's SO reassuring knowing I'm not alone!

Thanks:)

Hi and welcome Tracy! You are not alone and I am happy you found us! I don't have any experience with Apriso, but I am glad to hear it is working for you. What side effects do you experience?

Hi Jill, thank you:) with apriso I tend to be
more tired somedays or get dizzy sometimes
Also my joints like my back has been hurting or sore somedays as well.
I read about side effects from Apriso and those were all listed
So I'm assuming it's just from my medicine.
Nothing too bad I can work around the tiredness and achy back most days

:)

Yes, it's true that mesalamine (like apriso) can cause your joints to hurt, but so can your disease itself. I have had joint pain, including my back, for years before I was diagnosed. Everybody is different, though. No 2 snowflakes are alike.

My mesalamine (asacol) causes frequent headaches, ringing in the ears, vision probs, and eye pain. Those are the most notable side effects for me. Every once in awhile I get horrible joint pain in my knees. I credit the mesalamine for that joint pain. Do you ever get that? It's so hard to run to the toilet with knee pain! Do you still have diarrhea? Believe it or not, that is another side effect for some people.

I hope you are well still.
