Hi I'm new to this forum, my 12yr old just got diagnosed with fistulizing CD (perinatal abscess/ fistula, and moderate terminal ileum inflammation) ...been in the hospital for over a week and tomorrow is the first Remicade infusion ( first treading ever) ....we are ao overwhelmed!! a whole lot of mixed feelings !!!! God I'm praying for it to work !!!!

hi and welcome although I am sorry you have to be here. My daughter was also diagnosed at 12 and received her first remicade dose inpatient. Remicade has good success with periannal disease.

It is hard at first but when the drugs start working and your kid is living a full and normal life it gets easier!

Good luck tomorrow!

Welcome to the forum! I hope the infusion goes well. My son has been on Remicade since the summer. He has responded well, and once the IV is in, finds the infusion actually quite relaxing. I wish the same success for you!

Welcome to the forum! My son has been doing Remicade for over two years in part due to a perianal fistula and abscess at the time. He was also inpatient when he had his first dose. By the third dose, everything had cleared up and he's been in remission ever since.

Good luck!!

Welcome, my son has been on remicade for the past 2 years and has been doing fantastic. He is in remission, we fought through many other drugs the first 4 years of diagnosis. I hope remicade is her miracle drug and quickly brings about many years of relief and remission

Thank you all for your support and prayers! I'm so happy to hear that your kids did well with Remicade and are on remission! Your responses are giving me hope and positive vibes this morning :) I'll keep you posted! Thank you again 😀

Hope the infusion goes well today. Just so you know, some kids respond quickly to Remicade, and for others it can take longer. So don't worry if you don't see an immediate improvement (but I hope you do!).

My son is 14 and was diagnosed right before his 13th Birthday. He also has perianal fistula and because of that he was put right on Remicade. He has had some complications with the Fistula and they added Cipro in addition to Remicade and Methotrexade which has helped. He was only on the Cipro for a few months.

Remicade has been helpful and he has grown 6 inches in the past year!!

Good luck, and I totally understand the feeling of being overwhelmed!!

My 7 year old has been on Remicade for over a year now. It's helped and worth it so far.
I hope it went well for you guys today!

My son was diagnosed with Crohn's just after his 13th birthday. Due to the severity of his disease he was put on remicade 4 months later. His symptoms stopped almost immediately and he has been in remission for 3+ years (knock wood). He has grown 10 inches and doubled his weight in that time. I hope Remicade works just as well for you.

I'm on week 5 of my infusion and I recently got steroid injections into my joints and i haven't had any joint paints since. I am 13, turn 14 in 7 days and I wish you luck my friend.
