Well this is my first time on here. and im looking some suggestions. I first found out about this in '07 when i was hospitalize. Ever since about Feb. 08 ive been sruggling with this. I use to be about 189lbs now im like 139lbs if that. im looking for ways to gain some weight back, plus some good eating habits because i still eat as i did before and i think thats what causing all my problems. I cant eat much, stomach always hurting like hell, burps just stink somethen bad, i just dnt know what to do. I dont have no coverage to help with anything, can you give me some ideals?

Hi danlord
and welcome

glad you found us, lots of support and advice here for you!
have a read thro the sections on diet and meds, are you on any meds?
When I feel rough with gas, bloat and pain, I go on the low residue diet, this works for me by giving my bowels a rest, you can find this here on the forum, but basically it's white food only, chicken, white meat and fish, white bread, potatoes and white rice, add a banana sometimes, and stay away from red meat, nuts, seeds and fibre, no 'coloured' foods like veg and fruit. Drink plenty of water too.
hope you find what you're looking for here.
lotsa luv

Hi Dan, welcome to the forum. In addition to what Joan said (I seem to be saying that a lot today! :)), I'd like to add that if you find you can't handle solid foods, you could try drinking something like Boost or Ensure. They're high in calories and vitamins, and some of them have added protien or calcium. They come in a lot of flavors too (personally I like the chocolate, but I cannot tolerate the vanilla - it goes right through me, but the chocolate doesn't).

If you have no insurance, are you able to find a free clinic near you? My husband had a cyst on his thumb awhile back and he tried to go to a free clinic to have it looked at, but they turned him away because we have insurance (we have a very high deductible on our insurance which is why he tried going to a free clinic). Sometimes churches or charities will run free clinics, you should check around. Good luck!

Hi Dan, welcome!! I really can't add to what Joan and Cat have suggested. Have you been diagnosed with anything? There are others who try to take as holistically an approach as possible. If you are dxed with crohn's though, you really need to have a doctor to work with. I wish you good luck and hope you stick around!!

Hi dan Welcome to the Forum, A place like home, with lots of friends, caring, advice and much much more. I hope you stick around
