I just got back from the doctors, he examined me (which was preeeeetty painful lol) and said I have an anal fissure, I'm happy to have it figured it out and am going to go to Costco as soon as i can.

He also spoke to me about Humira, he let me know that I'd be able to apply for the Ontario Drug Benefit as well! Most likely won't have to pay a cent either, today's a good day.

P.S Anyone that has had an anal fissure know how long the cream will take to fix it? and will it come back? :c

I had an anal fissure back in 2008. The doctor prescribed a suppository that I had to pick up at a compounding pharmacy. It took 2+ weeks before it didn't feel like I was trying to pass shards of glass when I went the bathroom. I have not had any anal fissures since then(and hope to never again!)

It's been a while since I had one; they are awful.
Sorry, I don't remember details.

Our Trillium Drug Plan in Ontario is a wonderful safty net for us.

Sending you my support.

Mine were diagnosed in December, the pain decreased within two weeks, I would say (three fissures, I could not sleep without a small ice pack, it was super painful). For the next two (?) weeks it was still painful when I went to the toilet, now it still occurs occasionally and I still apply the cream as I should. It can take quite a long while until they are healed.

I also had a triple. The creams I bought at the mixing pharmacy didn't seem to do any help for me. If I recall (been 4 years now), prednazone is what kick started mine toward healing. I'd venture that it was gone in 2 weeks? I know that as of the next day, the intensity subsided a noticeable amount.

I struggled horribly with fissures for around 10 months before finally full-on flaring and being diagnosed with CD. I tried the creams and a botox injection and unfortunately none of those treatments helped. Once diagnosed, after taking meds for CD (first prednisone etc, then remicade, now on 6mp and humira) things got SO much better. I still bleed sometimes, but I virtually experience no pain. It was so so awful before, and I am extremely grateful that my current med regiment is helping so much. In sum, my experience was that my fissures (which has been a manifestation of CD) have benefited most from CD specific treatments.
I hope you find something that helps you... fissures are so awful and painful :(
