Hi, wondering if anyone else has been dx in their 40's with the following symptoms. Severe anal pain after bowel movement, pus leaking, perianal absesses(sp) blood in stool. If so, what are your experiences and suggestions? Thanks so much.

Oh dear... You should check out my thread called "lots of puss/blood" I just had two surgeries for a perianal abscess. I'm in my 20's, but age does not matter when it comes to these lol

Hi, I checked out your thread. OUCH! Hope you feel better soon. I have learned alot by reading some of the posts on this site. It is really helpful and a bit scary. This disease is so complicated and affects everyone differently. My husband is still not diagnosed. Had symptoms since summer. Colonoscopy unsuccessful because doc couldn't get the instrument passed all of the scar tissue and narrowing. Going for a Barium Enema next. Feel better soon.

Yeah, it's really not fun at all. You're right, it is very tricky because if you took 10 people from this site, they would all probably have different symptoms.

Have you looked in to taking epsom salts baths?

yay, some days he has 2 or 3, depends on the pain. For everything I am reading I think he has a fistula. Hopefully we get some answers soon so treatment can start!

A fistula is like a hole, an abscess is like a lump. I'm not too sure on how to cure the fistulas other than the seton surgery. Maybe he should look into it. Quite a few people have done it on here.

those symptoms are all signs of Crohn's/IBD. They were my first symptoms, and I went undiagnosed for years. He needs a GI specialist - many do not recommend surgery now - they opt for other treatments. I'm sure it depends on the underlying disease diagnosis.
