Since diagnosed with Crohns I have not been in any condition to work out. Its been about 5 weeks since my total colectomy and i have a colostomy bag; and before that i was bed ridden with my first and worst flare ever, for about 2 months. Before getting diagnosed i had a strict workout schedule, about 10-15% BF and a well rounded diet. Now I am at least 25% body fat eating decent and unable to do basic calisthenics IE .

Today I woke up at 5 in the morning
Warmup
-Stretch and loosen up
-3 miles on treadmill
-basketball for about 15 mins

Workout
-Jumprope for a minute in between sets
-Pullups 5x5 strict form minute interval.
-Seated row with Rope grip 4 x 8-12
-Lat pulldowns 4 x 8-12
-Rear Deltoid Flyes 4 x 8-12
-Back extensions 8 x 15
-Plank for at least 30 secs then bosu ball balance training.

Post workout
-Foam roll legs
-Static stretching
-Selfie Session in locker room:tongue:

Feels great to be kind of back in the gym even though all my weights were less than half of what i used to use (I have a reversal surgery scheduled for late September, Im not trying to have it postponed because of a hernia.) My muscles are so weak, and i am super non aesthetic but it feels more like im starting with a fresh new body. My body is like a ball of clay waiting for me to mold it.
 
Working out is great. 5 weeks post surgery workouts will probably put you in the hospital. Even at 8 weeks you need to be careful lifting. Having a bag means you already have the start of a hernia. Give it time and talk to the doctor before getting into it.

You can definitely be walking.
 
That's pretty impressive however working out at that intensity so quickly after being in surgery is risky.

Remember sometimes, especially when seriously ill and during post-surgery recovery, we need to focus on being slow and steady with our physical goals. Too much too fast has the ability to trigger pain and discomfort and make your condition worse again.

I agree, discuss with your doctor the best approach to getting back in shape based on your post-surgery condition. Doctors WANT to see you getting healthy to that extent and can help guide you in creating a safe starter plan and let you know what to look out for to prevent any health complications.
 
Glad to hear you are feeling better. Be careful about going at it too hard, I went back to work too soon after a fistula surgery and I think that's why I ended up with another abscess/ new fistula tract (more surgery was required). Although my job did involve delivering very heavy appliances. In retrospect I think I wanted to be back to normal so bad I ignored warning signs to slow down and take it easy. Good luck with your healing, hope it keeps getting better.
 
start off small and gradually build it up. Your body may take a day or two of pounding but will suffer long term if it's stressed too much. It's much better and faster to build things up slowly than it is to go straight into it and then have to have a few weeks off due to injury.

Personally I would have removed the workout part until a week or two

Yeah i definitely hit it way too hard. I wrote this a while ago but by the end of that day i was way more sore than ive been in years. It wasnt my muscular atrophy sore it was my bones and joints from lack of activity. I hardly ever get headaches, and ive only had one migrane in my entire life. But i got an insane headache by the end of the day from this workout.
 
That work out is miles to much post surgery if you were a professional athlete a physio would not allow you to do so much I,m getting treatment for a torn rotator cuff which is nothing compared to what you,ve been through and I,m on an almost total exercise ban for 4/6 weeks.be very carefull.good luck all the best
