Ok, the doc put me on a 3 week course of Flagyl. It is working GREAT to relieve my symptoms ........but it makes me nauseous. I really don't want to stop taking it. I can deal with the "metal mouth" and the diarrhea :poo: but the nausea is driving me nuts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :sign0085:

I practically live on Flagyl, on and off. Ginger helps (ginger root) you can find it in the pharmacies, or health food store. I hate nausea too but I am on a low dose. How much are you taking and for how long? Hang in there.

Ugh. The only thing that even took the edge off for me (allowing me to get out of bed) was Zofran. I was still incredibly nauseous. I kept a bag of pretzels nearby at all times because it got worse if I went for a while without eating.

Others have suggested ginger tea (and other ginger things, like ginger snaps) and peppermint (hard candies and other forms).

I wish you the best. It's easy for me to say I will never take it again, but we all know what curve balls we can be thrown. I hope the Flagyl does what you need it for and you can be done with it for good!

Aw I feel bad for you, what's your dosage? I'd heard loads of things about it, but I took it for six weeks at 3x400mg then 2x400mg a day and actually had no side effects at all. Allways eat with it, and drink plenty. And on the plus side three weeks isn't too long :)

Ok, after doing some research online about the problem I decided to try ginger root capsules. So far tonight it seems to be providing some relief. And for work I have peppermint candies to help with the metallic taste in my mouth. 2 more weeks left and then I hope to not have to take this stuff again anytime soon.

Like Pen, I practically live on the stuff, so I hear you regarding the nausea.

Like Hannah mentioned, try and be sure to take it with food, even if it is a piece of toast, and this will help some. Ginger capsules may help like you said. I have found that even just a half of a Gravol tab will work, and not make me so sleepy.

I hope you find relief. :)

I might try that too. The ginger helps a bit but I still spend a lot of my day feeling "a little green around the gills". I'm trying so hard to keep up with the med and finish it all.

Dont think the US has Gravol. Now Gravol has a new natural ginger, I like the lozenges, they tastes good.
