Hello,
After almost 4 years of living with setons and trying the maximum dosages of medications for my fistula (Remicade and Imuran) my fistula is still acting up. I keep needing to get it drained and I go back on antibiotics and I am just really tired and exhausted from this all. I feel like my life is run by my fistula and it's hard for me to take care of my two little kids while this is all going on. My CR surgeon feels it is finally time to try something different so she's suggesting a temp ileostomy along with a flap to try and close over the fistula opening.
Has anyone else ever done this? If so did you do both procedures at the same time? My surgeon says she is inclined to try and do it all at once on the same day but I didn't know if it will be too much to have a sore belly and butt all together. I love my surgeon and have great confidence in her but I'm still nervous about this and am trying to figure out if we should do one procedure first and another later. Hoping for some advice, thanks!
