I think I'm officially flaring-up again! I've had a miserable couple of days: extreme gas, bloating, cramping, back pains, and the feeling like my guts are on fire. I was trying to fight it, but it looks as though I may need to go back on Prednisone. Boohoo! I need to keep busy. When I'm not busy when I feel sick, my mind becomes my enemy. :poo:

Aww I feel bad that you are in a flare :(

Even though you feel the need to keep busy, try to rest also. Your body probably needs it. Hopefully it will be a short round of pred to get you back to :) again.

Andi,
Boy, that sucks! I am so sorry you are hurting. I know exactly what you mean about your mind turning on you, I have the same thing when I am feeling crappy. I know we all hate the pred but try not to wait too long to make the decision. That is always my mistake; I fight it tooth & nail & wind up in a major flare that needs lots of pred for a long time.
:hang:

Hi Andi, Hope you can get on top of it before it gets out of hand. Take the time you're body needs to rest and heal (easier said than done I know). Wishing you a speedy recovery x

Oh, so sorry to hear this Andi. Pred stinks! But wow does it work, as we all know. Too much stress gets to all of us. Please take care of yourself and get better soon!
Misty

Andi,
I am so sorry to hear that you are in a flare and feeling so crappy. I sure hope that they get you feeling better soon, even though you don't want to take the pred. Take care of yourself and get some rest.

Big Hug,
Margie

hey Andi,

thinking of you during this difficult time. I understand that you want to keep busy but like Jennjenn said you must also rest. What helped me (if you havent already) is try to complete a Rubix cube, kept my mind busy whilst i was stuck in bed. Keep us up to date with how you feeling, hope you come out of this soon xxx

Oh Andi, I am so sorry to hear this, boo. :(:(:(

Look after yourself hun and I hope you can knock it on the head fast!

Thinking of you mate,

Andi
Not much I can add, but you are always there for everyone else and we are here for you. Feel better soon hun. Hugs x

Thank you for all the kind words. It feels like a flare all right. I just made a doctor's appointment. I feel lousy, but I don't have much sick leave left, so I'm being very cautious. My asthma is kicking in as well, so it looks as though Prednisone may be inevitable. When the asthma worsens, I get put on Prednisone. Alaska is warming up and the pollens are coming out.

Same prob here with asthma too! Oh Andi, I do feel for you! No sick time left is even worse! You just have to get treated. (and dont let MIL stay) For your own health and peace....God bless.

Oh boy, a double wammie! Well, at least the same medication will work on both problems. Still stinks though. Wish I could do more than just type words to try to help my friend.
Feel better,
Michele

Awww Andi

Thinkling of you and hoping you're feeling better soon! Pred is awful but at least it will help both the flare and the asthma. Fingers crossed you'll only need them for a short burst of time. Take care hunny.

Hugs

Hey Andi you are too precious to be sick! I was thinking rather that taking pred, can you take Flagyl? I know it is yucky but it gets rid of that bloat and pain. It has always worked for me. Do you use probiotics? Sometimes that helps or digestive enzymes or both. :hang: this too shall pass. ((hugs))

So sorry to hear your are flaring, Andi! I hope you can give it the boot quickly.

Thank you my sweet friends! I needed a pick-me-up today.

I have always had lower right-sided pain with my Crohn's, along with pain around my belly button. I am noticing more and sharper lower left-sided pain this time around. The joint pains are what are hitting me now. Thanks Penn for the advice about the Flagyl. I really hate that medication but it works wonders. It makes me so sick while I'm on it.

I had a horrific day at school today. I wasn't feeling great to begin with; however, three of my students were sent home with vomiting. YUCK!!! They must have caught the same Norovirus that hit our house. At least, I'm hoping we already had that. The first girl left during the P.E. class. Evidently she left the janitor quite a mess! The second one was one of my best students. He never complains about being sick. He told me early on that he was feeling funny. When I saw him turn colors, I sent him to the nurse immediately. The third boy is one of my trouble makers. He didn't tell me in time and ended up puking in the sink in the back of our room. Major YUCK!!! While we were waiting for the janitor to come and clean it up, I told the kids to stay completely away from it. One of my very brave little girls offered to escort that boy to the nurse. Evidently he didn't make it again and threw-up outside of another classroom. My classroom is tainted! It happened as I was flaring with the CD. I felt nauseated earlier, but I'm sure it was psychological in nature.

Misty, my MIL better be nice!!! Or else! LOL!

Aw Andi, bummer!
You've only just got rid of the other stuff!
And if the MIL misbehaves, puke up all over her slippers! ha ha

Hope you're ok, and the Pred will work a treat, the lovely drug we love to hate, and hate to love (I love it, but I'm a weirdo!)

Take it easy, chillax if you can!
lotsa luv
xxxx

Good advice, Joan! LOL! She better be nice!

I'm on the meds. and am feeling a little better. Yesterday I felt so awful that I went to bed around 6:00 P.M. My joints have been killing me this time around.

Thanks for the laughs! I have a follow-up appointment on Monday after work. I'm still have the burning pain in my gut. The cramping has improved, and so has my appetite. The joint pains are still bothering me.

Thanks, Penn! Karma can be a scary thing, so it's always better to be nice. Hehehe! Montazuma's Revenge! YUCK!!!

Thank you friends! I am so glad that I have my follow up appointment today. I feel lousy! I went to work though. The gas and bloating do not seem to want to go away. I teach in an elementary classroom, so it's a good thing that I have a bathroom in my classroom. I had to go! I brought a bland lunch, and even the thought of it is making my stomach turn. I thought I was beginning to feel better. What the heck!

Aww, I am so sorry to hear this, and sorry I missed the thread

Like everyone else has said, try to rest and if you need to entertain your mind try some crosswords or similar.
Just think, if you have a proper rest for a wee while the pred can work better and quicker and maybe you'll feel better sooner :)

I've just been on the phone to my sis who has coeliac's and must have somehow eaten something with gluten in it. I told her to take some strong painkillers, plump the pillows up and get comfortable in bed watching a favourite film or something and to just fall asleep if she feels sleepy
" There are things I was going to do" says she
" you're in pain and unable to do them properly so get some rest !" said I

So, Andi ;) ... you know what I'm going to say :) Take it easy, be kind to yourself and get well. I hope you start to feel more comfortable soon

Andi

You poor thing! I hope you feel better. I know you have been stressed too. How much longer 'til your MIL's visit is over? I bet that will be helpful...

Take care of yourself. Do something nice for yourself and something relaxing. Thinking of you.

Lots going on here. I found out that I'm anemic, a UTI is brewing. I was placed on Bentyl (been on it before), and Canasa. I'm so sick of the burning, crampy gut feeling. My MIL arrives on April 1 and will stay until June 2. Lucky me!

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear that :(

Please do take it easy and let yourself heal and make sure that everyone knows you mustn't over do it. I'm sure your MIL will be happy to runaround doing things while you put your feet up ;)

Feel better soon

Andi,
Sure hope you start to feel better soon. Don't fret about your MIL, hopefully the month she will be with you will go by fast.

Big Hug
