Hello : )

This is my 1st posting. My 12yr old daughter has the flu and was put on tamiflu. She is on day 2 of 5 day medicine. Problem is, the loose stools started today. Is this the start of a flare? Does she need to be on the BRAT diet? This is the 1st time she has had any tummy issues since dianogis. I'm waiting on a email response back from her GI doctor.
Any advise??

Thanks,

Hi Connie- Sorr your daughter has the flu! Diahrea, stomach pain and vomitting are the first listed side effects of Tamiflu, so it's likely the drugs that are causing her issues.

Hopefully it clears up quickly, as well as the flu, and she doesn't have any Crohn;s activity from it.

Hi Connie! Welcome! I'm glad I happened onto your thread. My son also has PSC.

Madison has had 3 years of remission so far:). That's great! What meds is she on?
What are they telling you about her PSC? I hope Amy's right and it's the Tamiflu causing the problems. Good luck!

Hi there :bigwave: I was also going to say some meds and antibiotics cause Diahreah. Is your daughter on any other meds for Crohns? Good luck, keep us posted on what the Gi says.

As already stated above, this is a common side effect of the anti-viral drugs. Unfortunately, they tend to make you feel much worse in the short term, but are very useful for preventing a viral infection causing wider, potentially much more serious complications. By all means talk to your Doctor, but it's probably a good idea to stick it out for the next few days.

Hi Amy,
Thanks so much for your message. I guess I was too quick to post. This morning has been good, she has eaten and no other activity. Dr. did respond and just to watch and eat normal. Of course to double up on Culturelle.
Its going to take me a while to get use to this forum/email/chat/thread stuff!
Have a great weekend!
Connie

Hi Ami,
Only Pentassa & Prevacid for the Crohns, and we do a daily Cultrelle.
Shes much better today. So do I!
Thanks,
