I have my third remicade treatment on sept 16th I can get a flu shot today at work
Should I get flu shot or wait until after my remicade treatment and get it then?
The flu shot doesn't contain any live virus, so it should be fine to get the shot. Just make sure they don't give you the nasal spray instead of the shot - the nasal spray does contain live, weakened flu virus and could potentially make you ill.
Flu shot is fine. I was told just don't get the nasal spray, get the shot. And if you can to try and get it two weeks after and 2 weeks before your next Remicade.
I would see if you can contact your remicade coordinator (if you have one). I believe some of these rules have been changed recently from the old standard of 2 weeks before or after. It's worth getting up to date information on it
That is true. I know it was that way last year but they have made some changes. Like antibiotics if prescribed by your GI you don't need to have you doc contact the clinic. Flu shots may be one of those changes.
Thanks for the update. I will have to take to my infusion nurses and ask if they are okay with the same. It was hard when they said 2 weeks before and after as I am on a 4 week schedule. Hopefully it won't be required anymore.
