I found the video for the Monash University FODMAP idea, and this fellow, though he's not my favorite presenter of all time... he does at least present the ideas clearly.
INTRO: The FODMAP diet attempts to avoid fermentable "oligosaccharide" type sugars in the diet. (Common examples: inulin and FOS) Many common foods have various levels of FODMAPs and the diet attempts to minimize these while allowing other carbohydrate foods that have small amounts of FODMAPS. It's basically a way to choose your carbohydrates wisely to avoid bloating. It is NOT designed for IBD or related disorders, it is designed for IBS. It is designed to be a temporary diet that modifies the intestinal flora and once the flora is balanced, "normal" eating is resumed.
