Has anyone had or heard of any success with the FODMAP Diet for crohns and IBD. This diet is very new to me and am in the process of researching it.

I was diagnosed with Crohns 3 yrs ago, suffering for 5 years. Mild Crohns so I am told and I feel

Medications Ive been given include Prednisone (A quick fix easing flair ups), Sulphasalize (which did nothing whatsover), Azathiroprine (giving me food poisoning symptoms within an hour of taking the medication), then told to try again, which obviously did the same thing. Methotrexate, (major headaches and a hospital visit with a flair up, given prednisone). The only other medication that Im aware of is Remicade which apparently is too expensive for the Australian Govt to make that my symptoms do not qualify to prescribe... so given the option of going on methotrexate again. (Ummmm hello..... it did not work for me..... so no. Is that the only alternative?)

I was then told about the FODMAP diet. A diet developed by a Gastro Dr in Melbourne for IBD sufferes. This I felt compfortable with walking away with my bit of paper containing the words FODMAP.

I have personally always been a sufferer throughout my life with candida problems, and have in the past 12 months, felt it was a possible cause of my crohns. Since researching a little on the FODMAP diet in the past couple of days, Im believing that this diet may be right for me. (And what better way to know but to give it a try. Which I most certainly will. Beats injecting or taking drugs that have potentially worse side effects)

Anyones thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
