Fodmap safe weight supplements?

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any FODMAP safe weight supplements and/or protein drinks. I'm currently in a flare and am having issues eating many foods. I basically haven't had meat in 2 months and when I did I paid for it. My GI recently said I should look into a low FODMAP diet. So, between my previously very limited diet and now adding low FODMAPS in, I'm starting to lose more weight again. I am looking for a way to stop the weight loss while keeping on a low FODMAP diet...and hopefully not be in pain for it.

Don't know much about the FODMAP diet, but carbs are your safest bet to gain some weight, and it seems the FODMAP diet is telling you to not eat carbs. You won't gain much from protein, while it can get turned into fat, it's a process that takes energy in itself and it's not efficient, and to properly sythesise protein, you need....carbs. You can gain muscle mass from protein, but to get the energy to do this you need...carbs. I really don't get these "no-carbs" diets, they're dumb. The SCD diet is reasonable in that it is selective in carbs, but the FODMAP diet seems to abolish all of them, at least if my source is correct.

Dunno though, it just makes no sense to me that he would tell you that, maybe someone can recommend something else, but you really don't gain much weight from protein if you don't work out, the energy needed to work out comes from carbs, and a diet full of fat doesn't sound very healthy to me, nor will you absorb fat very well if you are ever inflamed, don't see how telling you to go on restrictive carb diet is the answer.

I appreciate the response and providing additional thoughts. I realize that carbs are great at helping to gain/maintain weight. I had been eating a lot of pasta a while back but found that I'd gain weight for a couple days but would then have GI issues start up a couple days later. This happened several times which lead me to going gluten free for a while.

I looked up some of the information on the SCD diet. This is a diet that I'd be willing to consider when my diet improves a little but I need to do some additional research with it first. I looked at the safe/unsafe foods list and it eliminates too many of the foods I can currently eat making the SCD diet impossible. As in, 80% of what I can eat and my body tolerate at the moment, isn't allowed on the diet.

Fodmap is not a low carb diet. There are gots of fruit and vegetables and grains which are ok on this diet.

What are the main carb sources that you have removed from your diet?

Well, let me go with what I've BEEN eating for carbs. I'm eating a lot of rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, gluten free pasta, oatmeal, cucumbers, etc.

I heard some of the boost supplement drinks are FODMAP safe so I've tried them. I'm not sure if it's accurate or not, so use caution.

The things I removed from my diet in response to starting the low FODMAP diet that I had been eating are canned fruit cocktail, canned peaches, etc.

Ok and the things I removed from my diet (bc of FODMAP) that aren't necessarily carbs but tossing out there anyway: Ensure clear, Carnation instant breakfast in rice milk (for maintaining weight), salad dressings (fat free italian or fat free red wine vinegar).

I use a book called low fodmap shopping guide but it probably only good for australia as foods vary.

Canned peaches are listed as ok. Syrup is mostly likely better than natural juice at least in Australia as natural juice is mostly pear juice.

Thanks a lot for the response. I'll try canned peaches again to see how they work. Hopefully I'll get some more food into my diet. That really helps and makes me happy that they're 'legal'.
