Follow-ups after surgery

For those of you that have had surgery, how often do you go to GI dr after surgery? I just had several inches of small intestine/part of large intestine removed and waiting for it to heal. How often after surgery do you have colonoscopies?

Roo had a visit 3 months post op, then 6 monthly for a year and then annually. Now she has moved and has a new GI he has her back to 6 monthly visits. She has been in remission since the op (4 years) and has not had a colonoscopy in that time.

Addit - Saw the surgeon one week post op. Oops, one week after discharge!

hello, I had my op 6weeks ago and have an appointment with the surgeon in two weeks from now....I have my GI appointment 6months from my op date. I do know however that you need to rest the bowel for 6months to a year before they can go prodding about up there depending on you've had done.
