Hi. Just had a reversal after my ileostomy and was just wondering what I could eat? Currently there's a village fate going on in my village and I'm really tempted to send one of the parentals up to it, to get me a hot dog. Is this a good idea? I'm fully aware I couldn't eat sausages due to the skin with the bag and now I'm craving them no end. I just came out of hospital yesterday and really don't want to cause a blockage so soon haha.

Fully aware this may be under the wrong section... sorry!

Strictly speaking you probably should avoid all those things that could have caused a blockage before BUT I never did after my last reversal. I think a hotdog would be fine if you chew it really well. So long as your bowels are working normally now I say risk it but if you are having any problems wait a week or so. The main thing is to chew really wel lso that if there is any swelling around the join it wont get blocked.
Enjoy!

Hi gracifer, I'm glad to hear you had your reversal I hope your recovering well! For me a hot dog would have been.a bad idea as it took me time to get off a soft diet and on to more substantial foods. But if you feel up to it as long as you chew it really well it shouldn't be a problem. With the exception of nuts, seeds and shell fish I eat pretty much everything I did before I had the surgery including the dreaded lettuce.

Keep us posted on how your doing :)
