Did you have problems with the insurance company? Our insurance has already rejected Cimzia (went through appeal process), and it has just rejected Humira so we are in the appeal process again.

Thanks for any info!!

I can understand the problem with getting Cimzia approved because I don't believe (I could be wrong) that the FDA has approved it for children yet. My daughter is on it, but she just turned 18.
I don't really know anything about Humira, but there is a thread here in the parent's forum about a few children who are on it. There is also a sub-forum in the Treatment section for Humira you may want to look around in those :)

Best of luck to you!

I guess we've been very lucky in this respect. I think it is standard practice for the insurance cos. to reject just about everything but our GI does not take no for an answer from them. There are professionals in the hospital billing depts. who know how to deal with insurance cos.. I must say those at Vanderbilt Children's have been relentless whenever we've had an insurance problem.

What Mark said above, that's how we eased throught it also. We were approved within days for Remicade and then again for Humira. Our GI clinic has people whose job is to get it done.

Our approval process was a battle. It did happen but it was a ridiculous obstacle course through the insurance system.
