I have been on azathioprine since january. This afternoon I started with a rash which seems to be spreading. It is a bit like prickly heat...fine , red and over my trunk and arms and upper legs so far...feels hot under my skin.
Did any of you have this..I have seen a few where people had hives and welts so am hoping this is not quite the same. And did you end up with bloods taken when you got it or just stop the drug...which I don't want to do as that would mean...complications!
I'm having a dilemma ...don't want to feel an utter idiot attending A &e just to be told its nothing or just to stop it and contact GI after the weekend. It could just be an allergy I suppose but I haven't had anything different. Things always happen to me at the weekends!
Any advice very much appreciated.

Hi Littlemissh. My allergy to Aza was about 6 weeks after starting it. Rang my IBD nurse and explained that my hands had swollen, with red knuckles and had what looked liked blisters developing. My knees were begining to turn, but it hadn't got that bad with them. I was told to stop it straight away. Never went back and was switched to 6MP 2 weeks later. My bloods weren't taken then, but had been the week before and hadn't shown any abnormalities.
Hope this gets better for you, And x

I have a red flat spotty rash on the top of my hands and up my arms to my elbows. I have never had this before and I am calling the specialyst 1st thing.

Anti hestamine is working with the rash over my face and neck (3 days ago)

Get well soon.:rosette1:

Thanks andrea, I am just observing it at the moment hoping it will go away.
Bren,Does you gi work Saturdays? I have had an antihistamine but am also on prednisolone so I am not sure how much it will add as Pred is a very potent anti inflammatory. I hope your rash settles.

Happy days, it's starting to fade so must have been a reaction. I wonder if was to the hospital sheets. Anyway, just glad it's going.

Pleased to say that my rash has taken a hike. Must be the gogo company...
Glad that your rash has also split:biggrin:

Keep well
:medal1:
