Good explanation of the differences between Crohn's and UC, the different levels of medication and how they work. It's from the Johns Hopkins Gastroenterology Dept.

It was very informative. Many of the topics I already knew, but there were a few things I did learn. One being that a liquid diet doesn't really help rest the bowel. Only intravenous nutrition truly rests the bowels. That was news to me.

Glad y'all found it helpful; same as you, I learned a few things too.

Johns Hopkins has a physician/patient symposium in Baltimore on Sept. 24; it has an Integrative Health Dept. within the Gastroenterology Dept. and will discuss meds, diet, and treating the ancillary issues that Crohn's and other IBD patients face. Integrative Health involves nutritionists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, etc. as well as having board-certified GIs. The cost is $10. It's nice they're putting things together for patients as well as doctors, and bringing in some Eastern sources of treatment as well.
