Frequent Urination?

My GI always asks how many times a day I goto the bathroom. I always answer with regards to how many times I pass stools. I wonder if he also meant how many times I goto urinate.

I urinate several several times a day, I don't know if this could be related to Chron's?

good to know its not chron's related, i had the urge to go urinate many times a day for years now. so its not the pred, might just be my bladder.

I pee like a pregnant woman. My intestines are always really badly inflamed though so I've concluded that, like a pregnant woman's uterus, my swollen intestines are putting additional pressure on my bladder.

Strange that someone brought this up, I'm actually seeing a urologist a week from Friday for this very reason. I've had frequency for years, I always feel like I have a urinary tract infection, to a greater or lesser extent. Not on any meds that could be causing it (and its preceded all the meds I'm currently on anyway).

Sometimes I get what's apparently inflammation in my urethra. It hurts like hell and is very similar to a UTI but it mysteriously comes out of nowhere and by the next day is gone just as suddenly. UTIs don't behave that way at all. If you have a UTI it's pretty near impossible to get rid of it without antibiotics. So it's just seemingly random inflammation. I can only assume that it's autoimmune related.

I'm with the club and urinate all the time too. I figured it was my guts pressing on the bladder as I notice more when I'm hurting.

This forum never ceases to amaze me... and I've only been here for about a week. All I can say is... "me too". The reason I've never been too worried about constant peeing is the fact that I've always been like that and I assumed I must have a bladder the size of a walnut. But it seems to be worse over recent years (in retrospect, maybe the same period of taking the meds and/or my insides have been swelling up more). Still considering going to the doc about it!

Colt - I definitely know that feeling, I've often described the same complaint. Especially if I've had to pee for awhile, when I finally go it's often wickedly painful. It feels like my bladder too, not just my urethra...any slight pressure on my bladder is painful and produces the sensation of needing to urinate, even when I don't.

My urine is also cloudy fairly often, and last time I went to the gyno, they said there were "white cells" in it, but no infection. Anyone else have an experience like this?

Wish I'd seen this article before my GI visit yesterday, I would have mentioned it...

Me too. Lately it's the urination that makes me get up at night, not the Crohn's. My GI had me tested for diabetes because I also drink water like I'm dying of thirst. I carry around a 22-ounce water bottle and refill it 7-8 times a day!

No diabetes for me though, I just drink a lot.

Coffee/tea are diuretics, so maybe caffeinated beverages are playing a role along with the meds.

If it doesn't have caffeine, I don't think it would have much of a diuretic effect from caffeine. Maybe something else in drinks like that make you pee? I'm not an expert, I really have no idea!

I've also thought I've had this, but I drink a lot of liquids so hard to tell sometimes. But lately, I'm feeling a numbness just under my left rib cage while I'm finishing urinating. It feels like it has to do with the muscles that are used while going. But I cannot duplicate the feeling with the muscles when I'm not urinating.

Though sometimes I can feel it when I'm sitting still. Then on a couple of occasions it feels like the muscle, or whatever it is, has kind of snapped. The best way to describe it is like when you snap a double joint but with this it's not voluntary. Anyway, just thought I 'd mention that in case anyone might know what it is. I have an appt. on the 18th.

now - that is impressive! lol

i feel an outcast in this overpeeing club - i think that's possibly the one part of my body which works ok ;)

I went to a urologist today, he says it seems like I have a chronic inflammation of the bladder and it doesn't empty all the way. He recommended something called "Vitalzyme". Anyone heard of this or tried it? It's an OTC supplement.

haven't heard of that one... but two remedies my family have tried & trusted are cranberry juice, or barley water.

Cranberry juice I've tried without too much success, but I've never even heard of barley water! I'll look into it. Thanks :)
