Hello, I just turned 41 and hadn't been feeling well and missed my period for the first time this week. Dr didn't initially want to order the blood test to check my levels because I have had my period every month and on time. However, I insisted and Lo and behold-My FSH level came back at 84. My Dr was surprised and said she had never seen a level that high on someone my age that has had their period every month. Happy Birthday to me!

I am wondering if this is related to Crohn's? as well as being under enormous amount of stress lately. I started having hot flashes and feeling achy and tired just the past 3 weeks. Is that from the elevated FSH? Am I truly in menopause or can this be other issues and can be corrected? If I can do other things than be on those hormone therapy meds, I would like to try that. I just feel like Drs wanting to right away treat it as if its menopause when they also think its odd, isn't the right choice right now. Would appreciate any info. Thanks!

if you were in menopause your Aunt Flo would cease altogether. Most Gyns will say their patients are in the complete "change" if they had no period, even if it's a light flow, for an entire year.

I had perimenopausal symptoms(for 5 yrs.) such as day sweats/night sweats, mood swings, my cycles were very much irregular to the point they stopped so I asked my hematologist if she could test my levels and it came back positive that my levels have dropped and I was indeed done with my cycles. Best news ever because I wouldn't have anymore hormonal Crohn's flare ups.
