Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

Wow, this is great. I honestly believe we will have a cure in the several years. Tons of progress is being made from stem cell, to hookworm to MAP. Just sucks it will take another several years to reach the masses. Does anyone else feel this way as well that we will see a cure soon or am I just way too optimistic.

I hope you are right, but I would like to see the rather short list of cures that have occurred in the last twenty years.

We have a disease maintenance system, not a healthcare system.

Maybe I am too pessimistic? I will be happy to be wrong.

I agree, we do have a disease maintenance system not a healthcare system.

I honestly believe you need to look at this from a different perspective.
When we as humans get tonsilitis or strep throat. We take a bit of medication and vwlah the dis-ease is gone. It can come back under the correct conditions.

If they have found a way to stop the Inflammatory response ( which there are several ways of doing so from current research). Then the dis-ease can be stopped. And will come back lets say once a year, treated then back, treated and then back. If its treated quickly and can reverse damage which is what stem cell therapy can do then that is beautiful.

Some people get wisdom teeth get pulled out, others dont? In the future, (some people get crohn syndrome) take some medicine and gone for a long time.

As long as they can properly contorl the disease. At the moment all these mediciations and there never gauranteed to work on everyone. Could be because crohns has different causes.

Comparing the last 1980-2000s, not much was discovered, but to be honest with you since 2001 - on wards there has been many universities, pharma companies, all pushing for the right solution. It wont be long I hope. I think maximum 10 years more until we got something Concrete.

Potential Therapy in Study

-RHB 104 ( Anti Map Antibiotics)
-MAP Vaccine
-SSI Vaccine
-TH-17
-GSK
-Osiris and there Autologus Stem cell
-STC therapy
-Videozulimab (i think thats what its called)
-Stelera
-New type of anti-inflammatory
-Hook Worms

And im sure there is many many more.
Thats 11 mentioned. Thats more then what we ever had since the beginning of crohn disease combined.
Good luck to us all.

I thought MAP was no longer being researched. The last research of evidence was found in 2007. After that nothing happened. I know a bunch of people are skeptical of MAP. Is there any news on MAP

Lol. Rhb 104 is being produced. At Ucf university dr saleh Nasser made a new type of test for MAP.
The problem with MAP is it very hard to detect. How do you treat someone if they don't have MAP? They are trying to detect it in the people that have it then treat them. Then it can FDA approval and proper trials.

The vaccine has been ready since 07. Been in clinical trial for animals for last 2 years. Early next year results come out. :).

So MAP is still in the loop. If you want links, or articles let me know.

Yes please do provide links. Sounds promising. But after animal trials human trials would have to take place. So we might see the vaccine for another five years.
