Hello everyone,
Hope you are all well and fine.
I have a slight dilemma once again with my Crohn's and wanted to seek some advise.
To start off, I am a Crohn's patient for about six years now and have finally gotten control of my diarrhea, now suffering from serious constipation instead.
As of lately, I have been passing gas, but not the usual kind, its more of explosions that erupt from my bowel through my rectum and blow out with liquid mucus or sometimes even with blood. It has no smell thank goodness, but a loud sound of rumbles.
I cannot control it, I cannot hold it back, not even till I could reach the toilet from a minimal distance. Sometimes I have to stand in one place, try to hold in the gas and would feel it gurgle in my intestines until I can quickly release it in the bathroom, or it just booms out if I cannot run fast enough or cannot bear it held in, and leaves heavy damage of mucus on my panties and thighs.
I have noticed this gas usually occurs after I awaken from my slumber and try to go throughout the day, or after main meals. Its very random and spontaneous, so I don't even know what to say specifically when it occurs.
Please, if anyone can give some advise, I am really afraid to even go to college soon with this happening.. It was embarrassing enough to have had this happen at a few friends' house the other day, just grabbing some milk for a sick friend, and boom, blood leaked onto my legs and onto the floor in front of all my friends to see.
I have been doing intimate exercises to help strengthen my muscle around the area, but it doesn't seem to do much.
Thank you so much for reading, sorry for the sudden disturbance.. Thank you.. Take care!Best of wishes!:)

Hi you, long time no see ;). Well you could be eating gassy type foods. High fats will do that. Stick to a low residue diet and avoid all dairy and see if it helps. I has to be embarrassing I am sure!!! You may want to wear pads to help you in case. Young or old, no one like accidents! When do you see your doctor? Mucous loss is a sign your disease is active and can cause pain. The lining is not beeing protected when you lose mucous.

I hope this helps a bit, hopefully someone can chime in with better information. Go see your doctor ok? Keep us updated!

Hi there :)

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. I've recently begun the Specific Carbohydrate Diet which I know some with Crohn's Disease and other forms of IBD have had a lot of success with. In it, they talk about the intestines creating mucus as a defense mechanism and excess gas being caused by the fermentation of sugars and carbohydrates by bacteria because the gut is unable to digest/absorb those foods. Some subscribe to the SCD, others don't. I've only just begun so I can't comment on my personal experience but if this is something that sounds at all interesting to you, you may want to look into it. As I read your post it's what came to mind.

Either way, I hope you're able to get this sorted soon. All my best to you.

I have a lot of gas but rarely do I have mucus.

I agree with David, changing your diet seems like the bnest thing to do.

Good luck

Hello everyone,

I am so sorry for taking so long to respond, I have been busy lately, so I do apologize.
Thank you so much for all the advise! I really appreciate all the help I can get on this dilemma.
To first answer some things, thank you, I do wear pads and I rarely eat oily or sugary foods! I try to stay away from any gassy foods too! The only sugar I really do have is two teaspoons in my morning coffee or if I cheat and eat something sweet. The milk I only drink in my coffee, maybe eat some fresh yogurt at times, and rarely eat cheese. The lactose I was told is somehow useful in helping me have stool, which I have noticed it does, but I am going to try to cut it out for a week and see what happens.
I will talk to my GI on Monday as she has not been around and I can only call her as I have moved lately.
Otherwise to update, I have noticed that the gases occur in the morning, and right before stool would come out. It seems that the gases prep me for stool because after running to the toilet because of the gas for about three times, less, or more, stool then would later come out in an even proportion.
Since I have been suffering from constipation instead of diarrhea, I have tried to take about two spoons of wheat bran into my fruit juice with my breakfast for fiber and stool, then drink a cup of freshly brewed coffee. By doing this, for now, I have been able to regulate the gases to occur in the morning or after my breakfast/coffee by two hours, which all lead to an amount of feces too.
As soon as I can talk to my doctor to get her opinion and views on the gases, I will update you all. Though I will definitely look into the Specific Carb. Diet, and the others suggested. Thank you so much once again, all of you!<3
Thank you very much!! Best of wishes to all of you, and hope you are all well also.
Please take care and have a nice day! Sorry and thank you once again!

Hi Ormsklad,

May I ask which diet is that?I have never heard of it before. I am sorry you are going through the same trouble and hope you will recover as well soon! Best of wishes, and hope something will help us pull through these leakages!
