Gasec (omeprazole) + heart pumptation !

Hi all,

I have been taking this GASEC for the last 4 years on daily basis ( 20mg on empty stomach).
for your info, I used to take ZANTAC (ranitidine) for a long time before but then I was advised by my doctor to stop (not sure if this relevant).

My main issue here;
Im experiencing scary heart pumptation every day!
I have done few checkups and my heart seems find (as of now !) and no further explanation for this terrifying experience was given.

however, lately I've read few articles suggest that OMEPRAZOLE causes heart pumpation which clicks with me and I feel it is the main reason for my issue.

any one here has similar experience? and way to avoid this symptom? or any suitable alternative for this proton pump inhibitor that I am taking?


please all thoughts / ideas are really useful as my appointment with my doctor is coming close and I would like to have your thoughts as well.

Hi i have been on omeprazole for a couple of years. I get occasional bouts of palpations (rapid heart beat). They only last a short time then back to normal. Im going to ask my gi about it myself next week,when i see him. Im wondering if its the omeprazole myself.

I think its all behind this scary heart beat, and i think the more you're on it the more you'll start to notice.
plz let me know what's your doctor intake of this and if he offers any alternative med ?!
