Hey again everybody,

I see there's a lot of posts regarding specific foods, but I'm really interested in a list that are "generally" safe foods when in a flare. I know everybody's different but there must be some that work for most people.

I'm not on any meds, I'm waiting for a clinical trial and I'm in a REALLY bad place, I can barely eat. Feeling nauseaus all the time, UGH.

Help me out?

Thanks
Sam

When I use to flare I would just stick to mostly liquids or foods you can mash.

If you have a juicer just juice fast all day, preferably something with ginger in it till you feel better.

One thing that seem to always make me feel better when I used to flare was a berry smoothie with flax. For the liquid part of the smoothie I used water or 100% juices instead of the ones that say 10% percent juice and have bunch of ingredients that can make you worse.

For actual foods Id stick with anything you can mash like sweet potatoes, yucca, RIPE bananas, avocados. If you go potato route, I prefer sweet potatoes, or yucca over regular white potatoes due to their high antinflammatory properties unlike white potatoes which can actually cause more inflammation or so I read.

This is just what has worked for me, not sure about others.

Hi Samantha, when I feel like this I go back to the low residue diet I had been given by the hospital pre surgery as it is easy on the system. Mostly mashed (old) potatoes, white pasta, white rice, poached or baked fish / chicken. I also find greek yoghurt + honey good and like the other posts said ginger in drinks etc is good too. Cornflakes also help me and tend to be tolerated. Apple juice is good too for a bit of energy. general rules to stay away from fatty, spicy, oily food and keep to low fibre. Hope that helps.

I'm officially trying the low residue diet. I like the idea of juicing but the thought of the textures of some of that stuff makes me want to gag. Maybe if i start by trying something really sweet I can get into it.

Thanks Guys :)
