Geographic Tongue

I never have pain or lesions....I just thought I was a freak of nature.Honestly, I never really thought anything about until the hygienist pointed it out (Well maybe I actually am a freak of nature?) I think the reason she was so knowledgeable about it was because she was an instructor for the hygiene students. She wanted a picture for her students because it was a "text book " case??? Right now my tongue is completely normal...When I Google "Crohn's and geographic tongue", there are a lot of people, even a facebook group?

I get white patches on back of tongue when I'm flaring. Supposedly, in Eastern medicine, the tongue is a window into inflammation of your body. The further back the funky color on the tongue, the lower in your body the inflamation. Kind of makes sense...my intestines flare and back of my tongue goes white. When not flaring, pink tongue. Maybe it is related.

Okay, yesterday when I posted this my tongue was normal. This morning I have a red patch on the tip....:confused2:

My wife had this in the past, but when I looked at it yesterday, it was completely normal. I wonder how long it has been normal, as this was many years ago when she had it? I have not thought about it until now.

The white patches are yeast, and when the immune system is not functioning as it should, or you kill other bacteria in your mouth, this can happen.

Yeast in that amount is not helpful. You can never completely rid yourself of it, but diet can bring it down to a lesser amount.

Here is a pic.

It's very mild now. Most medical pictures are usually the most severe. I hate that they do that because it not always the same for everyone. If it changes I'm going to post another picture.

Next time I'm gonna lick you.....

There are so many things I could say, but I'll refrain.

Back to your tongue, I don't have that - mine's more a white patch. Does it go away on its own, or do you take anything for it? An allergy to food perhaps?

I'm licking my screen right now...GROSS!

It doesn't hurt .I didn't know notice this new patch until I was brushing my teeth yesterday. I think I read somewhere that toothpaste can aggravate it. It's just some weird thing. They actually move around, disappear, reappear...I have a magic show going on in my mouth.
