I am think of trying a Gluten free or Low Starch. I am not happy about this thought, but I don't know what to do about my heartburn anymore. and I need to try something new.

I have had heart burn for 2 full years now. My GI doc started to laugh when i saw him last, with the idea that he's never need to treat my crohn's for intestinal issues.

My blood work now comes up clean for inflammation markers, so i feel I have a chance. Though heartburn is notorious for being difficult to get rid of.

Anyway... so i want to try and go gluten free for a period of time. I think if i tried permanently i would be overwhelmed. How long would a good try, to see if things get better, a week? two weeks?

when after my colonscopy the doc comment was well you either have celiacor crohn's, i came up negative for celiac, and in my mind i was totally ok with crohn's instead of celiac.

part of my concern is that toast is my safe food when i can't eat anything else. i also like bread a lot. but some times it will give me heartburn as well so that what started this though.

any ideas of how i should go about this? has anyone had success with heartburn issues and these diets?

I do not have GERD but concerning a gluten free diet, feel much better and became healthier eating grain free. Flare ups are rare now, where they were common, pretty much daily, in the past. I was also found to not be a celiac, but as one GI specialist said to me, he felt everyone with GI problems should avoid wheat in particular.

Not sure if eating gluten free will help with GERD though. Have read on Dr. Eades sight, a GERD suffer and long time gluten free eater, that he has had GERD issues for years.

An article where he talks about his gastroesophageal reflux disorder and what he did to help himself.
