Well, I had a GI appointment today and since I've now failed Cimzia and every other drug i've tried, it looks like I'll be having that resection after all. I go in for a small bowel follow through tomorrow morning to assess the extent of the strictured/scar tissue in the small bowel. I'll still have disease in the colon and rectum, but after surgery I'll be put on Tysabri to help heal that up. I feel very hopeful and scared all at once. I've never been in remission or even really felt "good" in the last 12 years, I cannot wait to have everything over and start feeling better!!

My appointment with the surgeon is Dec. 20th.

I'm sorry to hear medication has failed you. i'll pray for an easy surgery, quick recovery, and for a long long loooong remission for you.

Hi i hope that you surgery goes well and i also hope that you are in remission for a really really long time too! but i am sorry to hear that you meds aren't working:( and that you have to go through surgery:(. hope that it goes well for you and you make a quick recovery :) :)

Ahhhhh Amanda......my wish for you is your surgery is as successful as it has been for Sarah and Matt. :)

I have a good feeling that all will go well and you will have loads of energy to use on Sophie! It will take a few weeks but then whammo!

Keep an eye on B12, Iron Stores, Folate and Vit D after surgery.

Sending loads of love and luck for a safe and speedy op and recovery!...:goodluck:

Much love,

Thank you guys!! I'm scared and happy all in the same. I've just been feeling so down in the dumps and feeling like there was just no hope. 12 years of just never feeling well has gotten to me, especially lately. My Sadie deserves to have the healthiest, best mom she can! I know I'm a good mom, but I feel terrible when I'm feeling horrible and she is so needy and all I want to do is get some rest and lay on the couch! I'm sure lots of people go through that, but we shouldn't HAVE to.

@Dusty. Will do! Right now I'm B12 deficient and apparently my potassium is very low. Also, damn pancreas counts are heading upwards again? WTH! I thought I got rid of that problem months ago after I had the baby.

Anyway, I'm going to a great surgeon who has done a few surgeries for me in the past and feel very comfortable with her. She's just a general surgeon, but she's highly recommended by everyone I know, and I guess my bowel resection should be pretty basic. (we hope!)

I'm sure it will be a great success! Not looking forward to things getting worse before they get better, but the end result should be much better. I cannot wait to feel better and to have my life back. I hope I'm not putting too much hope in it, but right now hope is all I have! :) Whew, sorry for such a long reply, just so many emotions right now.

I'll keep you updated on how it all goes. I believe I'll have about a week stay in the hospital, I'm sure I'll have all kinds of time to update and keep in touch :)

Pancreatiis can be an EIM of Crohn's, pre diagnosis Sarah has had an issue with fluctuating enzyme counts. Maybe that's what's happening with you???

Both Sarah and Matt had low Pottasium counts too but I think that was mainly post op with them.

I hope they are all a thing of the past post op!

Manzyb! I'm so happy that they have a plan for you now! I can't wait for you to get your energy back. Soon Sadie will have to run to catch up with you! Let us know how things go.
