My wife has had crohn's disease for 20 years now. She's had 10 major and 8 minor surgeries. I've been reading a lot about cannabis for crohn's and asked the GI doctor about it. He said "there is no real studies or proof it helps crohn's disease and also said that if there were studies done by the FDA and it proved to work it would be prescribed and approved." followed by "lets try this new medication and see if this works for you."

Am I missing something here? He says it might work than says try these approved drugs to see if they work.

Any pointers here will be appreciated. My wife is in a full flare up worse than ever. Should she try cannabis and these new meds, just try cannabis or give up on the whole idea. Thank you for reading as I am very confused right now.

Are you in a medical state? If you are, there is most likely a hand full of naturopathic doctors in your area that will give you a recommendation for a small fee.

I hate to say it, but your doctor is extremely ignorant. Just because the FDA hasn't studied it thoroughly doesn't mean that other nations haven't. Israel has been conducting research on cannabis since the 1970's. There is plenty of legitimate scientific information out there for your wife to show her gastro.

We said the heck with it and my wife has been using mm for a week now. She feels 100 times better, put on a few pounds, diarrhea stopped and don't take as much pain meds. Will post more updates after a months trial period.

Happy to hear your wife's condition has improved on the MM! :) I have been considering having my wife try MM, but currently am at the very beginning of the process. In other words, no idea what to get or how/who to get it from. I'm in Canada and am currently looking into the specifics/regulations in Canada. She is about to start AZA (Imuran) after nearly completing a course of prednisone, neither of which we are crazy about.

Best wishes in a similar pattern of improvement on the MM for your wife. :) I anxiously await a follow-up on her condition.

Glad to hear that MM does help your wife's Crohn's it also helps Ulcerative colitis. The state that I live in the MM department lists Crohn's as a qualifier by itself for a License.

If you can get onto the extracted oil it's way more beneficial in actually taking away inflammation from personal experience, but be careful coz it can be real strong, need to know your dosing otherwise you might have a bad experience

Well the mm is working fantastic. My wife ingests it mostly through cooking and vaps it when extreme pain and inflammation sets in. She quit using cimzia and 5 other narcotic base drugs. I have to say that I'm a firm believer now and my wife is too. Her doctor is pissed because she quit the cimzia but why take it if its not needed. He says the cimzia will keep the crohn's in remission but I think we will continue on the natural path until it know longer works. If anyone has questions please ask as we have experimented a lot and narrowed down the different strains that helped her ailments. Love and prayers to all and thanks for the info!

I will say that I still currently take my humira with mm. This is because I cannot get strains with high CBD because of the state I live in. What strand is your wife using? From all the research I have read is the CBD that helps with keeping the disease in remission and the high THC strains have helped me tremendously with nausea. I am scared to stop taking Humira because it is the only thing that can help me keep the disease in remission as of now. I really wish that all states would legalize this natural med so people like me or anyone can actually choose a strain based off of medical purposes. I have been a stoner for a long time and I'm not saying that I don't like THC but I know my body needs CBD just as much as THC.

On a daily basis she uses PANDORA'S box which is 2% thc and i don't remember the CBD% but it is equivalent to Charlottes web. For severe Nausea and pain she uses a pure indica called Rock Lock. There are a few others that help too like Hash Plant, XXX Og and Blue Dream but she says they taste awful when smoked. LOL. Good luck and remember these are strains that help her but everybody is different.

My wife was scared to get off her meds also but after 10 major surgeries and 8 minors she decided to take a chance. Im not saying this is a cure because there is NO cure for Crohns! It is a very devastating disease where all one can do is make yourself as comfortable as possible. Hope this helps and god bless for we understand what you are going through.

Thanks brother God bless you too.

I am currently is full remission and owe it all to MM. My Doctor kept putting me on drugs that always effected my liver and i got scared of those drugs. I switched to MM about six months ago and never looked back. It helps pain, nausea, diarrhea, and sleep. A big plus I can now sleep thru the night instead of waking up 5 times a night. I was actually able to get off my depression meds. I am a firm believer.

That's great! Cannabis has to be the greatest natural medicine ever known to man.

Cannabis WILL someday be recognized for the miracle drug it really is. They get so hung up that you might get high from the treatment. I say that is a welcome side effect.

So encouraged to hear this. Wanting to get off Remicade as its toxic and not wholly effective. I've smoked more on than off for many years but still had relapses. Perhaps the oil is the way to go for inflammation. But then do I do CBD or THC or a combo. My GI is in denial re benefits as well. Suggested any proof of progress was anecdotal. Any thoughts r appreciated as I'm having a relapse and I'd like to catch it before it gets full on stupid. Thanks!

ANY UPDATES???

going up and down in flares with cannabis or to use it ''when needed'' does not seem like ideal to me. Prolly best to use it on a continuing basis for ongoing remission and monitor with GI to make sure the disease is fully in remission.
