About 30 yrs. of UC. Bad flare for about a year. going to where they say the best are, Mt Sinai hosp NY. Anyone have any experience with them? Advice on the hospital? Crohns itself was named after Dr. Crohn who treated most his patients at Mt. Sinai. It's gotta be better than my local Dr. .

I don't have any personal experience with Mt. Sanai, but keep us posted on how things go. Sounds like it could be interesting.

Mike went there briefly. The Dr. came highly recommended. We left them because the staff was horrible. Before leaving them we tried to get in touch with the Dr. to let him know the problems we were having. (could not get Mikes Cimzia prescription correct for 4 months and it took 6 weeks to get an 'emergency' appointment. Also got scolded by the head nurse because he had not been seen sooner. Same nurse who scheduled the appointment 6 weeks out). I know of people who have had a better experience then us. The ride was almost 2 hours and I have become intolerant of obnoxious useless office staff. Good luck

Hi there :welcome: to the forum! You have come to a great place for info...sorry I can't help you with the hospital in NY but in our Mt Sinai in Toronto all the top teaching Gi's and surgeons are there and I saw one for a barium follow through. I am assuming alot are connected. Hope someone here can give you an insight on the one in NY. All the best in your discovery there! Welcome aboard!

I don't have anything helpful to add, but will be most interested in what you find out there. Definitely update, please!

When was this? Hope it wasn't too recent. Any names I should be wary of feel free to PM me.
I have been on Humira, Medrol, Asacol, Lialda, 6MP which put me in hospital with an allergic reaction 105 degree fever... Need to go to about 60mg on Medrol for relief but as any one taking it knows, TERRIBLE sides with it. Upwards of 20 trips a day to BR. Took some percocet for the pain, and BAM everything slowed down, pain and anxiety relieved, almost solid BM's. Only had enough for a week though. Anyone else get relief from Percocet? Back to crappy self again once they ran out.

He saw his Dr. the first time back in December. I do not want to bash the Dr. because I am certain the staff was not conveying messages to the Dr. I asked his secretary on numerous occassions to have the Dr. call me. It never happened.
Mike was a patient with them until March. We have been fighting Social Security Disability and Mike's private disability. When they went to collect medical notes, someone had purged them. The notes where not even a year old. I think what happened was the staff got rid of the records of my telephone calls and emails. Which is a problem because it is proof that we were trying to get Mike in sooner AND looking for the double dose Cimzia that Mike was promised.
These notes that were missing had a lot to do with why Cigna denied his Long Term Disability. Leaving us no choice but to hire an attorney.
My opinion, go see them you may have a better experience. Mike is a rare case because of the recurring PG. He needs a Dr. where he does not feel like a number. Mt Sinai could not offer the personal care he needs.
