going back to work

I just got the decision on my disability claim. I got denied. I have a job lined up for me at a local call center. I've been out of work for three years. I'm scared of going back to work. From what I heard, this call center is very crohns friendly. They allow unlimited bathroom breaks. I'm still worried about the other symptoms though. I just need some support, I guess

One of the things I do is keep the supplements that help me with me at work. I also keep soup to heat in the microwave, various liquids, and those pain relief pads. The "hot" ones are like a portable heating pad. I make sure to stand up when I can and I move around as often as possible. I also make sure to rest as much as possible. I have a foot rest with massage under my desk. It helps on those achy days.

I will try those methods. That should help a lot. Thatnk you so much

I've worked at several call centers in the past. It can be stressful if the calls come in one after the other and you don't get a break in between calls, but during the slower times it was a pretty good and easy job. My advice, in addition to what Mizgarnet has already said, is to make sure you have a big bottle of water with you at all times. Personally my throat tends to go dry really easily especially when I'm talking on the phone all day. I don't work in a call center anymore but I still always keep a big bottle of water on hand, it's just a good idea in general. Hard candy or throat drops are a good idea to keep with you too, because it's just miserable talking on the phone a lot if your throat is at all sore or dry.

Also, I don't know if the call center has anything like this, but once you get settled in there you may want to mention it to your boss if they don't have something like this (especially since you said they are Crohn's-friendly) - my workplace has a sick room. It's a quiet, dark, empty office with a cot. It's intended for anyone who is feeling ill and needs to go lie down for a bit. I've used it a handful of times and it's wonderful. I get migraines sometimes in addition to my tummy troubles and it's great to have a quiet dark spot to lie down and wait for my symptoms to ease up a bit.

Good luck with the new job! I hope it works out well!

Good luck closed in girl. I worked in a call centre a logn time ago. Before iw as diagnsoed wtih crohns. I wish I knew then what I know now.
Also there have been a couple call centres in my area that have closed. Very unexpectedly. it is interesting as when I saw an exmployment counsellor that is where she wanted to put me.
I felt she was after putting em in a job rather than askign what was best for me. Aslo i was hopign to keep some dignity and have her help sort of hold my hand isntead of calling the business herself.
Something I find that really helps me is Beano. for some reason when I sit a lot.. I get gas. I can either feel pain or altely it has be nausea. And always deep breathign works. Especially blowing it out slowly seems to help when I am overwhelmed. best of luck.
