Hey everyone! I have been dealing with symptoms for about 4 years now, I am currently 20 years old. The main symptoms I have are severe diarrhea, constipation, pain during bowel movement and blood occasionally. I went to my regular doctor last Monday for all of these symptoms, she told me she thinks it's Crohn's Disease and is sending me to a GI doctor in 3 days. She told me to research Crohn's and to compare my symptoms to what I read. The more I read about it the more I am convinced that I suffer from this disease, but I have to wait until Monday to find out.

So my questions are, does everyone have stomach pains with this disease? Is it only when you are going to the bathroom or all the time? I have stomach pains during but not all the time. I can't remember the last time I had a normal bowel movement, so if it is not Crohns then what is it? I am constantly stressing about whether or not I am going to make it to the bathroom. I really just want some answers and someone to put a name to it so I can start taking medicine and change my lifestyle to feel better about it. I made a list of all the things I cannot eat because they really upset my stomach and there was alot on my list which is really upsetting because I love food!

Hey Dlehster... Welcome to the forum.. The symptoms you've described could fit with Crohns... or other forms of IBD.. as neat as a pin. But it could be other issues that are milder... a few that are worse. And with this disease, there's enuff minor variations that comparing symptoms is just not an effective diagnostic method. Its what makes this disease so hard to diagnose at times, or mis-diagnose, even by the 'so-called' "EXPERTS". Hey, you've been going thru these for 4 years... I think another 48 hours will pass really quick, except perhaps in your perspective. Wait for the tests, wait for the official diagnosis, DEAL with the 'reality', whatever it might be. It won't change your 'condition'.

and if it is crohns, or any form of IBD, come back, tell us how you are doing, ask us anything... and I'm sure you'll find, like the rest of us, that living with this disease can be trying at times... but living in general can be trying at times too
I know lots of folks who dont' have IBD, or anything at all like it in their lives to cope with; and they seem to be having a far worse sort of life than I am having

Just my perspective on it...

It could be a lot of things as Kev said, but some IMO, are ruled out due to the fact you've had the symptoms so long. For example, the possibility of parasites/ovum etc... I could be wrong, but would have developed differently had 4 years lapsed. Sounds an awful lot like Crohns/Ulc. Colitis though...

Sounds like you've come to the right place. Welcome!
The strange thing about Crohn's is that the symptoms are so varied, but it's the same disease. You can have 20 people with Crohn's, and they will have a list of 20 differrent symptoms. I rarely have pain, but some people live with terrible gut pain. I can drink milk with no problem, but a LOT of Crohnies can't. Your symptoms could surely be Crohn's, but only your doc can tell. You'll feel a lot better once you know for sure, and can start treatment.
Good luck on Monday - let us know what you found out!!
