Hello all...
So look at me go, I just joined and already broke the rules! lol... didn't realize I should introduce myself first! But I guess this is my story! I was just diagnosed yesterday with Crohn's disease. I have active crohns in my left colon, as well as TI. Currently, my bladder and TI have become connected, with a fistula developing between them. I have done a lot of internet research, but just kinda anxious as to what to expect next!? I have a followup with the doctor next week to discuss the results and I guess a treatment plan.
I have had symptoms and increasing pain for about 3 years now, but the doctors kept leaning towards endometriosis, and it was only a week ago that they realized Crohns might be the answer all along! :shifty:
At this point, I have had a cystoscopy, pelvic and abdominal MRI, and colonoscopy.
Wonderful to meet you all!

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Just to confirm you have not yet been put on any meds for your crohns? I have not had a fistula myself so could not advise on this but I think it would be really benificial for you you to have a look at our fistula's sub forum so you can have a chat with the folk here about questions to ask in this area and also the treatment options available for these: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76.

Overall I would say have a good look around here and write down any questions you have ready for the upcoming appt, also do check out our treatment forum for details on the meds that can be used for crohn's. Make sure you take you time with the appt and do not hesitate to ask the doc to clarify anything you are not clear on, do not leave until you are happy with the plan going forward and clear on things.

I do hope you can be feeling better soon, pls keep us updated on how you are getting on.

Thanks for the welcome!

Nope, I have not yet been put on any meds.
It was kind of a whirlwind over the past couple weeks. Everything was being directed towards possible endometriosis, however I was referred to a urologist for a cystoscopy due to a possible lesion on my bladder being seen in an ultrasound. The cystoscopy came up clear for the bladder, but showed a bulge which the doc felt was something pushing in on my bladder from the outside. He also felt it was likely an endometrioma from endometriosis - and sent me for an MRI to get a better look... long story short, the MRI showed a connection between the bladder and small bowel, and that led to a very quick colonoscopy (about a week after MRI results), and the crohns determination... I am now just waiting on the appointment with the gastro doc to discuss everything on Wednesday of next week, so I will see how that goes!

Needless to say, I will have a good book full of questions for the doc!

Thanks for your thoughts!

Hi thisisme and welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear of your Crohn's diagnosis :( Fistulizing Crohn's can be serious but hopefully they'll get you on a treatment plan that gets it under control quickly.

My biggest suggestion is read, read, and read some more. Then ask questions and more questions. Become as educated as you can on the subject as it'll help you advocate for yourself in the long run.

We're here for you every step of the way.
