Hey everyone,

Earlier this week I was given some omeprazole by my GP because I was having seriously bad acid reflux.

I took one capsule and the acid was gone in about 30 minutes. The next morning I noticed I had a very loose, green stool. That evening, I had a much better formed, but still green bowel movement!

Ever since my bowel movements have been green! They have been MUCH BETTER formed than before. I mean they're almost completely normal now, but they're green.

I phoned up my local practice that night but my usual GP wasn't there so I spoke to another one. He said it was nothing to do with the omeprazole and that he wasn't even worried about it. He said it's something to do with bile salts.

Not the omeprazole? That's kinda like the coincidence of me taking antibiotics, and then developing Crohn's disease the day after. These drugs they give us are doing things to our bodies that even the doctors don't know about, I swear!

This is just NOT a coincidence!

And yes, I do eat green vegetables; but this colour has never happened before and for the past week or so I've only been eating 1 portion of green veg a day, anyway.

Strange that my bowel movements have actually improved and are almost perfectly formed thanks to one capsule of omeprazole (which is apparantly not enough to show any improvement at all), they're just green.

Thoughts?

I never had any issues when I was allowed to take it. It worked great and it had nothing with my bowel issues.

Never had that problem while on any acid reducers......Did you eat an alien?

Sometimes food coloring, especially blue can do it.

That is a weird coincidence, Im with you thinking there is more to it than the doc gave credit to. Id do some more digging

I take it daily, helps me a lot and never had poo issues because of it.

I started having heartburns (hence the omeprazol) 2 days after starting my IBS medication. I was pretty sure it was a side effect, but my GI swears it has nothing to do and it´s part of the IBS/inflammation picture. I just don´t know what it was until now... but thankfully it´s under control.

hi I was fine on tht med but i did have green poo too
not sure wht it was it did go away it was when i was first ill not much help sorry but your not alone.

Green Stool

I am on here because my Mom has Crohn's, but I am on Omeprazole and started having bright neon green stools a couple days after starting the Omeprozole. The Omeprozole really helped with my reflux, but now I have really loose neon green stools, no matter what I eat. Any suggestions? My Dr. was no help.
