Hi I'm on my second week of azathioprine and pretty much from the start I've noticed my teeth have become really sensitive, the roof of my mouth just behind my teeth is that sore I can hardly eat or drink with out pain and discomfort...

has anyone else suffered the same?

Or does anyone else have side effects similar to this?

Now my teeth feel really weak and are sensitive... there's a thread somewhere on here its come up on my search engine but i can't find it still?

Hi Carrie,

I'm sorry you're having trouble on azathioprine. A couple questions:

1. Did they perform a TPMT on you before starting the azathioprine?

2. Do you have any other new symptoms?

Hello, no not that I know of sorry. I started on a low dose (25mg) i have a blood test weekly and depending on the result I increase by 25mg. Teeth are still sore and sensitive but my gums are ok now. I've definitely been more than tired than normal and get flushed cheeks shortly after taking it. I take it at night. I spoke to gastro nurse Thursday she said it's unusual and didn't seem worried.

Thanks for the reply by the way.
