Had a colonoscopy yesterday--still groggy today. Normal?

Hello, my brothers and sisters of the porcelain throne!

I have a question... Does anyone else feel like the propofol makes them feel weird the day after a procedure? Like, weird, woozy, or energy depleted?

Background: I have had UC for 13 years, and am not currently in a flare. Well, not a blood flare, but maybe a small "goo" flare. If that makes sense.

I just had a colonoscopy yesterday, and came home and slept for 4 hours. I felt mostly okay for the rest of the day, but a little "out of it." I'd feel fine while sitting and think about going for a walk, and then stand up and feel... Not woozy, but a little weak or something, like my limbs were full of air instead of muscle and bone. It was a little like having had a bit to drink, except without the buzz (or any alcohol in my system).

Now it's the next day, and I still feel a little weird/tired. Not like I want to lie down or nap, but like I can't concentrate as well and just feel kind of like I'm operating at half percent. It's like my body and mind feel tired, except I am not tired.

I have had several colonoscopies (yesterday was #5), but never seem to remember how I felt after the last one. I should start taking notes. I also feel like I react differently to things as I get older, as my first colonoscopy was in my early 20's and I'm now 34.

I only slept two hours the night before the colonoscopy because of the prep schedule, but this feels like more than that. I would usually have felt more caught up from the all nighter by now, after sleeping. I had that 4 hour nap and got about 8 hours of sleep last night.

Does anyone else out there feel kind of "weird," woozy, out of it, or energy depleted in the days after a colonoscopy? I know it's probably just the propofol, but would feel less nervous if I could hear from real people instead of the stupid Internet at large.

Thank you!

Any time you get general anesthesia or even "twilight sleep" it's not at all surprising to still be a little "off" the next day. Plus in my case it affects me differently on different occasions - probably due to differences in my general health at the time combined with differences in the type and/or dose of drug they used.

The last one I had I don't remember feeling groggy or woozy. I was tired my energy was gone but I think that had something more to do with the prep and lack of sleep. The one I had 7ish years ago, I felt completely out of it the next. I slept as much of the day away as I could, was difficult having a three year old to look after.

They've always used Demerol as the sedative for mine. Not sure how different that is from the propofol.

Propofol did not give me any hangover at all. However, I've had colonoscopies before with Versed and Fentanyl - that combination made me off for a WEEK after. Groggy and depressed, low energy feeling - terrible.
