Ok so today I had an MRI in the morning 9:00am(in UK time) it went well apart form when I threw up everywhere in the MRI room , when they say you will get diarrhea when you next go to the toilet, well that hasn't happened yet every time I go nothing comes out when something does all that does is blood and mucus no stool :ack:. Last time I had an MRI I had diarrhea straight after the scan , so I'm not quite understanding what's going on this time :ybatty:?? if nothing passes from now through till tomorrow and the next couple of days what should I do?? Any advice/help is appreciated :) Thanks :)

You probably vomited out most of the contrast and hence aren't running to the bathroom. They may have injected you with glucagon or a variation which also slows down the bowels for the imaging. If you still don't go by tomorrow I would call but an MRI should be harmless and I think you will be ok.

I still haven't had a single BM since yesterday morning before the MRI scan and I didn't manage to go after the MRI either and I can't see my doctor until Monday so now what do I do and is there anything I can do until then??

Are you are in pain or vomiting a lot? If not, don't panic. Your digestive system won't necessarily act the same way after each test, and won't necessarily act as the hospital tells you it will. You could try ringing the hospital department that carried out the MRI, otherwise your only option on a weekend is A&E, which I wouldn't do unless you're actually feeling really ill, or if the bleeding is excessive or abnormal for you. You could try calling the new NHS 111 helpline - I haven't tried it myself, but they're supposed to advise you on what medical attention you may need. But if you feel alright, I wouldn't worry.

I doubt very much 111 will help, it is mostly run by non medical call handlers with minimal training who follow algorithms!
Unless you are vomiting or in a lot of pain I wouldn't worry too much.

I wouldn't,t worry about not going if you recycled your food up the way instead of down you won,t have a lot in you to go,give it a couple of days.good luck

I am in pain and the only time I vomited was when I stood up after the scan. I hoping that if I can pull through this nasty pain then it might pass but I don't know so I might just see how it goes over the weekend and if it goes alright and I actually have a BM then I know that it's going good but if it gets worse then I will try calling NHS 111 helpline and see what they say.

I don't know how it is there but in the states most doctors have an emergency line with on call staff. If you have one you can call them.

Yes I wouldn't hesitate since you are not feeling well for a while now. I don't think the MRI is causing it though because if you were allergic to the contrast it would manifest itself differently.
