hair falling out

My hair is falling out due to long term use of prednisone. Wh
at can i do to stop this?

Oh I'm so sorry your experiencing this. My hair started to fall out when I took Azathioprine and it was so upsetting. I simply stopped the drug and it grew back eventually.

I would recommend speaking with your doctor as soon as possible. I would think the easiest approach would be to stop prednisone and find something else to help keep your symptoms under control. We all know that it is not always possible or easy to do. Therefore, I recommend you bring this issue up with your doctor soon to hopefully find an agreeable solution

Thanks for the input. I have about three more weeks to go on the pred, so hopefully ill get my hair back soon. It has been very distressing

In the meantime, try taking 5000mcg of Biotin supplement. It's great for hair, skin, and nails. It might not make the hair loss stop, but it'll help it grow back in quicker. I lost half my hair (thankfully I started out with THICK hair) while on 6MP. A combination of Nioxin shampoo, extra Biotin, and a juicing regimen has really helped speed up the growth process

I will definitely try out the biotin. I used to complain about how thick my hair was. Guess this is what i get for being a whinner!

I found this with meds over the years, the first time my hair started to fall out I was 14 and had lovely waist length blonde hair and when it grew back it was wavy and dark, everyone at home thought it was great I got two hair do's and didn't have to pay haha. Talk to your doc or GI to see if they can change your meds.
